Have seeds from Maya x w/maya sport

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

I just picked a rip pod of from Maya. My first mature pod EVER***YEAH*** Truth be told, I was only looking to grow a pod, not start seeds. I'm not sure if they will germinate since I crossed it to the maya sport. BUT they might. Anyone interested in giving it a try? I hate to just toss them. Let me know, I'll get them out in the a.m.

Hi Datdog, I would like to give them a try. I will try any and all you have. I will email you with my address.

Yep Arlene- I was playing 'bee' I really just wanted to get a seed pod, LOL (I'm like a little kid) I'm wondering if they will germinate since it was a sport of Maya?
I also have pods on the sport, one from the KBS pollen you sent. Two with Kyle's Pink and one with Golden Lady- not sure if they will have time to ripen.
It was fun to pick that pod I tell you, LOL...

So that's almost like mom x baby? Are you going to try and germinate some? You are good at it.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Gloria I just planted about 10 of them I'm curious if they will germinate. I actually had two pods of this cross. I just went and picked the other one as well. They were ripe.
I have SO many seedlings to winter over, I don't think I can handle many more.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Kristi, I would love to try a couple if you have enough.

Edited to add: Congrats to you!!!

Kristi, did you peel them to see if they have a healthy looking seed inside and are not empty? That should give you a clue. I just peeled a seed from my Arborea X pink Vulcanicola and was so happy to see a nice little seed inside.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

That sounds like a great cross Kell!!! Congrats to you! Hope you have good luck with them!

Spelling edit.

If you have maybe just 2 left I would love to give them a try :) LMK

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have enough to cover all the folks who posted on the thread that want's them.
I did peel several and they had healthy seeds. I even disected a few of them with the intention of looking at them under a microscope. I of course couldn't find the darn microscope. Someone needs to come stay with me and help me get organized LOL!

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I love to start seeds if you have more. I'll email my address just in case.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I'd love to have a few seeds if you have any left. Thanks.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

All out of seeds! Thanks

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Rats! A day late and a dollar short.

If you end up with a couple extra or another pod, I'd love to try a couple.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Darn! Too late. Well if you are out of seeds, you can keep me in mind for over abundant seedlings. LOL LOL :)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

They might not have a chance to survive. All of my Maya seedlings which germinated didnt have chlorophyll. After two weeks, they died.

St. Louis, MO(Zone 6b)

Let's hope that this cross will turn out differently. I'm going to germinate them and see what happens. Even a failure to germinate tells me something I didn't know before, even if its only how stubborn I can be. :-)

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Padre, wish much luck to you!!!

I love stubborn people....:-)
even if they sow out Mayaseeds...Lol and :-)

I did the same...

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

No chlorophyll in any of the Maya seedlings? Darn! I have a couple of pods on my Maya.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Try it!!
May be you will find the golden goal!

I grew Maya cross seeds this year from my plant and they all came out green and lived. I gave them away at the Roundup. I have no idea who got them, but it should be easy to track them. I don't know who the pollen donor was because the pod just showed up. Kyle may have grown some of them too. I should say that he took my plant and let one of the pods mature and sent the seeds to me. I only grew about 5 or 6 of them.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I say nothing ventured, nothing gained, but we all know I am a play baby and get my thrills growing from seed! LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes Chele, I think you have proved that to us all! What are you on your 6th? LOL
