All I Ever Need to Know about Bananas
Here I was hoping to find the answer! I don't know very much myself so I'm afraid I can't help much. What I do know is that bananas are heavy feeders (load them up on banana fertilizer--there is such a thing), they need lots of water to really thrive, and most varieties are not cold hardy (i.e. will die back in a light frost). In Zone 9B the non-hardy types will resprout from the roots after a frost. Folks here simply cut off the frost-damaged growth.
There's a place my friend buys all her banana plants and fertilizer from here in Homestead, FL that's called Going Bananas. Their website is www.going-bananas.com
