Hello all, I am new at DG and no expert at gardening, but I love it anyway. I will ask for help now and then, and hope that I can be of help somehow. I quit my job a year ago, so I could care for my Granddaughter, while my son Rick works and goes to college. My daughter Wendy and I do Home Daycare and have a small Craft business. Both are an affair of the heart for us. We both love getting our hands dirty in our flower beds, and learning new ideas. I started here as a quiet observer, then posted a couple questions and was thrilled that I got a response! When I settle down at night or have my coffee in the morning, I have you with me!! Yes, it was my cinnamon rolls you were smelling!!
Overjoyed with all of you at DG
Welcome to DG. Those are some mighty good smelling cinnamon rolls........may I?
A hearty welcome from the west coast. I don't babysit my grandson on a daily basis, but I'm available anytime they need me. Aren't grandkids the best? I only have one grandson and he just turned 1 yrs. old. He is the funniest little guy and keeps my DH and I laughing all the time.
I'm glad you finally came out from hiding, so now that your out in the open, just join in all the fun here at DG.
Donna
So that's what I smelled on the way to my volunteer job?? I stopped at a convenience store and bought a pack of rolls! (SHHH...don't let Darius and them know in the diet challenge)

I just know that I will enjoy this experience!! Viv
Welcome Vivalee. Join right in with your questions, we all learn something when people ask and somebody else has an answer. Yummy cinnamon rolls, thanks for sharing.
Welcome to DG Vivilee! I'm sure you will meet lots of nice people here! We're always willing to help, and not scared to ask for help. Don't be afraid to ask any of us a question because you may think it is stupid. I say, "The only stupid question is the one that is not asked!"
So, here's my question -- "Are you willing to share the recipe for those lovely cinnamon rolls?"
Dave
Thank you, MaryE, I feel welcomed already! Dave, my recipe comes from "Joy of Cooking" and I use a variety of them. Don't tell my son Rick. He is a certified Baker!! (best cheesecake in the world) Viv
A big California welcome, Vivilee. Glad you found this site. I just know your gonna love it.
And Bad,
I think the rolls should be withheld from you as punishment for all that tuesday night cake braggin you did! LOL
Welcome to the best web site on the internet for gardeners, farmers, anyone. Anyone who make homemade cinnamon rolls has to be a good person.LOL. I just might be tempted to make some myself this week. I don't need the calories, my diabetic hubby
doesn't either but our son loves them.
We've helped to raise several grandchildren for various perids of time. One just went back to his mother after 3 1/4 years with us. Of course he visited her a lot. The stepfather was the problem but he is no longer part of the picture so to speak. We homeschooled while he was here and he is doing fine now at his proper grade level. He was over a year behind when he came to us.
Again, welcome to Dave's Garden. Make your presence known often, please.
Hi Leaflady, It seems that we have alot in common, concerning our families. I, too have been a very "hands on grandmother". It seems to be happening alot these days. My son's 6 yr. old daughter was taken from her mother because of a live-in boyfreind and neglect. The court battle continues. My daughter and I do Home Daycare, for preschoolers, and she has a wonderful curriculum set up for them. Their parents are very pleased with the results. We take classes that help us prepare for the demands of today. Many people don't know that the best learning capacity starts very young. I strongly suggest that parents of preschoolers find daycare that offers more than just play time! Wendy also has a 5 yr. old Foster son that couldn't speak when he came to her at age 3. He knew alot of cuss words but couldn't form a sentence. You should see him now! We will know next week in court if her husband and her can adopt him. We are praying very hard! It's heartbreaking to see so many children grow up with self-absorbed parents that feel no responsibility toward their young. Thank you, Leaflady, for letting me sound off, and especially for being the kind of parent you are. Viv
A big welcome from PA! **waving**
"T" :)
Vivilee, check out the Stay At Home Forum. Several of us homeschool using various curicculums. I'll pray with you that your daughter gets to adopt the little foster child. Children need to know they really belong somewhere to someone who really wants and loves them. That is what is wrong with so many children and young adults nowadays. They didn't have that love and stability during the important young years. And GODLY upbringing is the most important part of that upbringing. No absolutes leaves a child with no real guidelines to live by.
God bless and keep you, your family, and your childcare business.
Leaflady, That's a definite!! I have to share a story about my 10 yr. old grandchild. In school one day she was telling a friend about a lesson she learned in church. A nervous teacher overheard and told her that not everyone believed in God, because they couldn't see him. Her answer: "We can't see air, but we know it's there!" Out of the mouths of babes! Viv
A big welcome from me to you, hope you enjoy your walk in the garden.....
