Musa Basjoo (Japanese Banana)

I have two jap bananas, one 5' tall the other 2', on both plants the leaves are going brown, they have only been out side for a week, they spent the winter in a greenhouse, we have had bright sunny warm to hot days, and warm nights too, can anyone offer a little info on this problem, thanks.

hi ya alan...your plants could have well gotten sunburned! Did you put sunscreen on them b4 putting them out??(just kidding):) Really though, your trees most likely are suffering from too much sun. They have been protected in the greenhouse and the bright sunny days may have been to much for them. Hope this helps ya out!

Thanks lisa, thought about sun burn, but didnt think it was, hmmn, maybe it is, we have had a lot of sun this week.

I have a musa basjoo that has put out it's first pup, and I want to know when and how to remove it from the mother plant. The pup is about 3" tall and very healthy. This is my first attempt to grow this plant so any info you can give me will be a great help. Thanks, Sky

I did this last sunday for our friend daisy chain, its not easy, but the bigger you let it grow (about 2') the more root there are and the easier it is to find them when you come to cut it away from the parent, but try to dig around it to give yourself plenty of room to do it and get it out, good luck.
