Helpful Infomation - (OR - I really need to get a life!)

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6b)

As the gardening season in many areas is coming to an end for another year - and I for one am not that knowledgeable about overwintering - I did a "Search" on "cuttings" and limited it to Brugmansia and Friends Forum. To date, September 1, there were 1686 threads or posts that contained the word "cuttings".

I took the time this past week to open every one and made a list of any helpful threads on topics that included advice on sowing from seeds, propagating from cuttings (water or in soil); pests, grafting, pot size, you name it I read it and listed it.

Make a long story short, I typed this list up in Word Pro. I checked out Dave's Garden Forum and saw that there is no way for me to attach this document to this thread.

It might help some of you when you want to find a specific answer to a questions or problem. If anyone wants it, just send me an e-mail and I'll forward it to you.

can't you just copy and paste it into the post? Sounds like you did a great job!

1686 threads! Wow....

Sounds like you have the makings of DG brug book...

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6b)

Kell - I don't think I can do it. I checked out Daves Garden Forum and someone had asked if they could attach a Word Pro document. I just reread that thread before answering you and don't see that it can be done - and to confuse me even more, it says attachments can't be sent using DG e-mail section. So if anyone wants it - send me an e-mail I guess from the member page or just to me as follows: sue.mignault@sympatico.ca.

Poppysue - you bet I actually have a 1 1/2" binder that says Propogation Articles and another 1 for various other topics. I am going to spend some time this week organizing all these print-outs and have sections on problems, pollinating, tips and tricks, who knows.

daturalady, I wish the students in my classes (past) had the commitment to learning that you demonstrate. I would love to get a copy of your research among the 1686 threads on the care and feeding of brugs. I'll send you e-Mail so you can just reply with the attachment. Thanks, Padre

Daturalady, did you find the brug postings under the FAQs forum, as opposed to brug forum? you are certainly more organized than i am.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6b)

See first para. If you're in the Brug Forum look to the right under Dave's Garden - you'll see home, FAQ , "Search". That what I used - typed in "cuttings" in the subject line and the second section says all or "click on the tab and you'll find Brugmansia and Friends". I hit that one and that's how I got the listings.

Daturalady you can copy and paste article from word pro. I do it all the time with recipies but you can't link to the word pro. example:

SMASH CAKE

1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick real butter melted
1 tsp vanilla
2 c pecan chips
1 egg beaten

Mix all together with a fork and press into a 13x9" greased baking pan.

1 lb. powder sugar
8 oz. cream cheese at room temp
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp vanilla

Mix with mixer until blended smooth and pour over top of cake. Bake 350 for about 30 to 45 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Top will be flaky. Let cool and cut into small square. I like it best cold but may be kept at room temp.

I would love a copy! Thank you so much for going through all the work you did and then offering to share it with us. I'm new to brugs and I have a few that I need to take cuttings off of this fall, since they are too big for me to overwinter.

I'm emailing you now.

You can just highlight any part of a document that you want to insert.Right click and hit copy. Go to the thread you want to put it in and hit paste. It helps if you have 2 windows open, but isn't necessary.

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6b)

Thanks Meolody. I knew that. But the document is 9 pages long. The formatting would have gotten way out of whack - and this thread would have probably been the biggest one ever. Since most people have a word processor - I just thought it would be easier.

Received your info....Thank You for sharing, sure makes it easier for someone like me who's just getting into growing Brugs.
