My permission for some of that to "run" this way. Probably too hot and dry though.
It would run anyway you want it to, as long as it was given water. Of course, in Arizona, that might mean a couple times a day (Phoenix?). Here in inland los Angeles areas where it has been about 95 every day for the last 3 months, it has had no problems... though a lot of our soil is clay, so doesn't need to be watered as often. This is a powerful runner, though, so heavy duty rhizome barriers are needed.
Will my bamboo get this big? I want some big bamboo like that!
This species should get this size in just about climate if given good soil and plenty of room and water. It's a very aggressive and robust species.
Palmbob, I just today saw your response to my note. I sure want to try some large bamboo some day. It was extremely dry here this summer, almost no weeds even until late July.
Betcha it would grow with watering, though.
Do you grow this kind?

No, I don't have room for it... especially now that I am renting... but even before. you need a LOT of space for this species, or else you have to have a really nice rhizome barriered area for it.
