4. Or use your favorite mix I use a very coarse cactus mix,
it is a very lean, so I add 50% coir fiber, which keeps
mix light, porus, easy to rewet, and they love it. They
really strike down fast in this mix, and grow and fill a
pot faster. Below 95F water once a week will be fine, once they
have good roots, 2 times a week for temps. over. Norma
It is suggested to use 50% shade cloth for temps like So Cal has, or similar hot climates, Texas, Ariz, New Mexico etc. Supports are recommended. Do not move the plants around, they will not flower.
Soil mix suggestions
Thanks Norma. I've been using a mix similar to what I use for my epiphyllums. It's very close to your mix for hoyas
My mother's H. carnosa has been growing for over 40 years and it is in plain old clay! Mine is in plain old dirt. I just moved a few hours north and it traveled fine and bloomed again 1 month later. They are not as fragile as one might think. I love my plant and have shared it with many freinds and relatives. Hope this is encouraging for others.
I use a mix of 1/3 Scott's cactus mix, 1/3 perilite, and
1/3 regular potting soil. My hoya's seem to like it.
