I was just reading in a gardening book that planting onions and/or garlic between susceptible plants will control mites and aphids. (I should add here that sometimes I read just enough to be dangerous.....hope this isn't one of those times!) What I was wondering is.........could I plant an onion or couple cloves of garlic right in the pots with my brugs? I'm thinking this would be a great way to have some control over those disgusting pests and not use chemicals. Altho I will use chemical warfare if I have to, but prefer the more ecologically friendly way if possible. TIA
? about pest control.........
Guess what? Someone else tried it! Crud, I don't remember which post. LOL Find a pic of a big brug with a Chihuahua (I think) next to it. :)
Doesn't do it! I planted and have garlic coming up every year in my rose bed, the roses still have all the bad bugs. Now, I have to try and get rid of all the garlic!
Has anyone tried the tobacco soaked in water for 24 hrs, then strained and watered down till it looks like weak tea? I read in that same book that is sposed to work good too. I am hoping that if I keep all the leaves off of the brugs this winter that will cut down on the majority of my pest problems.
I wouldn't recommend tobacco tea for brugs. Tobacco can carry viruses that can be transmitted to the brugs.
I agree with susie, my words later this year. The tobacco soup can bring more virus to your brugs.
Thank you Dennis, he is the first one who brought this help into Brugworld.
