This is my first year raising Brugs from seed. Except from alot of yellow leaves they are growing very large and sending out side stems from the base. My question is where do I look for the flower buds? and will I get any the first year?

If you are growing in a greenhouse, you may see bloom this year. Otherwise, probably not. You will have to watch for the main stem to kind of split and make a Y. After that, you could get bloom buds fairly quickly, unless you will be keeping it in the house. Seedlings normally get fairly tall. Maybe around 5-6 ft. This year, I had some Y at less than 4 ft. If yours has already made that Y, you may still have time for it to bloom outside. Generally it takes about a month from bud to bloom. It has been a strange year. I'm still waiting on most seedlings to bloom. Good luck. I hope you do get those blooms soon. Sorry I got so windy. I think I started out thinking that you didn't have a Y yet.

Impiefish, looks like we have another brug addict. Brugie, can you remember when we were asking the same questions and how excited we got then, and now still. By the way, impiefish, Brugie gave some good info, and she was the first on to post to me when I first joined Dave's.

Can you post some pics Impiefish?

After all this time, I still get excited to see one opening. Nothing quite like a brug bloom.

Roz, hasn't the time flown by quickly. Gosh, it doesn't seem that long ago that I first joined Daves.

Here you go girl's, these are by babies.....I am so excited to hear that the side shoots are the y you all talk about. Hope I get a flower before I try to overwinter these. I am going to try to put them in the basement. That is ok right? I was lucky enough to get these seeds from Poppysue. I am like a little kid watching these....

I think you misunderstood. You will have to watch for the main stem to kind of split and make a Y. Then you may start getting buds. Side shoots or bottom shoots usually have to Y also before blooming. I'm sorry, I probably didn't make that quite clear.
