I am going to be triming back my hoya that has taken over my bedroom window and was wondering if anyone is interestest in the cuttings. The flowers are very fragrant especially in the evning hours. It's a nice fragrance to relax with. I have a few that are already rooted in water. They are very easy to get started but it takes a little while before they start blooming.Just be patient and you can enjoy the lush foliage while your waiting. Check the PDB and there's a picture of them.
Porcelain Flower/wax plant- Carnosa
I'd love to try them, Tombstonejan. I'm just beginning a collection of Hoya and believe I have a really nice place on the ocean to grow them. Let me know and I'll email my address and send postage.
I need to check cost of postage on Tuesday. will let you know then how much it will be.
Jan
Hehe stella watch-out, soon your carnosa will be owning the whole window :)
Isn't that the truth. Thats's why I had to cut mine back. It litterally took up the bed room window. Great flowers though and wonderful evening fragrance.
Actually the fragrance can get overpowering in the evening when there are many fully flowering umbels. There is so much candy I can take :)
Luckily I live in a climate where I can keep it outside year-round. I'll probably baby it inside until it gets either overpowering and/or overgrown, then move it out to the deck. Roots forming on three cuttings today. Made me smile.
I still have rooted cuttings if anyone is interested. Just email me and I will get back to you.
Hi Jan, I am very interested. Please email me. thanks for the offer. Debk
Thanks for starting this thread, Tombstonejan. I just
brought in all my plants for the winter and discovered
my hoya had wound itself through a number of slats in
my blind. Was wondering if water would be enough-looks
like my very fresh cuttings will do fine.
Lilyon,
Since my plants are inside all year I don't notice any change in there well being. They are very hardy plants and I've notice that less is better when it come to watering them once they are established. I'm glad that your cuttings are doing well.
If you have any more cuttings left I would love to have one.
Hi there,
I just happen to have some rooted in water right now. Let me know how many you would like. I think there are 5-6 plants. I can mail them out tomorrow if you like. You can reimburse me for the postage when I find out how much it was to send.
That is so great just let me know how much the postage will be, thank you so much.
Okay, I will send them out tomorrow. I just walked into my bedroom and this fragrance hit me. My own Hoyas are in bloom. They seem to be the most fragrant at night time. It's a very nice smell while you drift off to Lala land.
I've got three large blooms and I will try to take a pic tomorrow and post it so you can see what you are getting. Oh yea, I guess I will need an address to mail these off to. LOL. Just email me at -------{gandolf183@aol.com}
This one just happen to perch itself on my mirror. Very stylish of it, don't you think. I guess it just wanted to see how pretty it was.
Boy, does my bedroom smell sweet.
Oh they are so beautiful. I hope my hundu rope hoya blooms this year.
Just an update for Debra. Here are some pics of my hoya
Thanks for sharing your lovely plant with me, it is doing great. I am getting new growth and I am looking forward to seeing it's beautiful blooms.
So you let it into the bed room, next the blinds, and then the bed. Do you have dreams yet that it is going to strangle you. Watch out. LOL hehhehehehe Norma
No it isn't that big yet but I will keep an eye on it,
right now it's hanging outside in a shady location.
No wind, I think she was asking me. Yes it is in the bedroom, around the blinds into our stand up mirror but the only thing that gets into the bed are the flower petals when they drop. Oh yea, I guess we get in the bed too. LOL
Lol, your so right.
