White Pearl X Big

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I took this picture around the second week of August. The heat has been so bad that the top of the plant cooked and so did the few bloom buds that were on it. I'm starting to see more buds now and the weather is much cooler, so I hope I'll be able to see at least one nice flush of blooms before the frost hits. I have no idea if it has fragrance because I would have had to get the ladder out to smell it. I'm 5'9" tall and standing straight under the plant looking up to get this picture. It's a tall one!! This is one of Monika's creations.

I wonder if the skirt will drop with the second flush. Pretty the way it is! I am glad you got a flower before winter, Brugie!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Very pretty.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

The flower looks very elegant, I like it very much.

Very good cooperation.

Thanks everyone. I think there will be several blooms when it flushes. It is looking like quite a few buds setting on now. Maybe the cool weather will help.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

How wonderful Shirley! I love the shape of it. I'm so excited for you.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

CC, it is a light cream color. I don't care about the color anymore.....am just glad I finally got it to bloom. Thanks Kristi. I still have to see a good bloom flush before I'll hold it over. Two years is a long time.

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

my moma always said --- good things come to those who wait :)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Shirley, to be sure, you have to keep it for another year.
If you dont want too, maybe somebodyelse does!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

This is a pretty one Shirley!! How is your weather now? 63 here right now and rained all night. Our high is only supposed to be 76. I opened the window and turned off the air. I'm getting several more Y's now. Can't wait to see SOMETHING bloom. Crazy weather!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Monika, do I have to keep the whole plant? This plant is about 9 ft. tall in the pot. Our familyroom ceiling is only 10 ft. Just no light up high. Well, I guess I could put it under one of the recessed lights and leave it on during the day. I'll figure out something. Jim is going to croak when he sees me dragging this one back into the FR again for the winter. Thanks Monika....you have me convinced to keep it one more year and then one more and one more. I talk a lot, but have a hard time giving up my brugs in the end.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

You dont need to keep the whole plant.
I would cut the top off and root it. The cut should be 8 - 10 leaf nods below the Y. Keep the old stem until the top has rooted properly. I would place the young plant under light for this winter.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks, I had not thought of airlayering the top part. I'll get that started and if it works, Kyle can have the bottom half if all goes well.

CHARITON, IA(Zone 5a)

Brugie - when you want to take more pictures call me and I will come over and lift you up! :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Donna,if your lifting,I'm getting down on all fours for her to stand on!
(Boy are we begging for cutings or what?)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Way to go, she needs all the help she can get!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I don't need help taking cuttings....I'm willing to share, but this one will have to wait one more year before I send it out. It hasn't shown me that it is a good bloomer yet.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

how did the bloom hold up in heat? Did it brown on the edges?

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Please give it a chance to show you what it can do. With the summer you have had, it would be hard on anything.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

CC, with 100 degrees and a heat index of about 114 for days and days, and the plant being in full sun, it didn't hold up well. I want to wait and see what a normal summer will do for it. I looked today and I'm seeing lots of buds now. That is a plus because during the heat, I sure wasn't getting any on this plant and most of the others.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

That sounds so awful Brugie! I sure hope you get blooms and blooms now. You really deserve them for all your work.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm starting to wonder what a normal summer is! I don't think I've seen one in a long, long time. Congrats on your double, Brugie. I bet it will perform a lot better now that it's cooling off. It's been in the 50s at night here... it seems very cool all the sudden.
