Common name: Foxtail Palm
Family: Arecaceae
Genus: Wodyetia
Species bifurcata
Plant Link: http://plantsdatabase.com/go/58118/
We recently received a message at the helpdesk that this young plant might be a Caryota ("Fishtail Palm") rather than Woodyetia bifurcata. Anyone have other thoughts or suggestions?
Since I got it at Selby Botanical Garden, I think it's likely as advertized. Also, I work in a nursery and it looks like a foxtail, not a fishtail.
It looks like a fishtail to me.
The trunk looks smooth and green which says Foxtail to me. Caryota have a more speckled trunk and pubescent fuzz on the leaf bases. I'll take a picture of a small Caryota in the morning.

That is definitely NOT a Caryota species (those are BIPINNATE and that palm is simple PINNATE)... so I suspect it is a Wodyetia
