No blooms on this Passiflora

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

This one bloomed last year but no bloom this year. Do you have to cut them back or something? I didn't do anything but bring it in the house for the winter and it grew like mad inside and then put it back out this summer. Not even one bud but the thing is growing like mad. What's up with this?

We have had so much rain, all plant, small blooms, same with tomatoes.

I haven't had nearly as many flowers this year on the passifloras as I did last year. I agree with Hibiscus, I think it's all the rain we've had.

so you don't do anything special when they're brought in in the winter or cut them or anything like that?

I had lots of sun this summer...a few bloomed alot but others didn't.
How old do some vines have to be to bloom?

I don't know how much rain would affect the blooms cause mind went through a slump when I first planted it... several months....It had a couple of buds when I bought it and one fell off the other bloomed, that was it for several months

...It grew and grew (jack-n-the-bean stalk) then all of a sudden it put on a ton of blooms...its loaded now.......

It rains here almost everyday and I fertilize this thing at least once a week.......

The one I have is called Lavender Lady...This thing is all the way up into the tree its planted next too.. I am going to start cuttings on it and see if it sets seeds,if it does I wait and harvest and then cut it off pretty close to the base as winter approches.

Our winters are pretty mild and I don't think I will lose it but I would like to see how much better it will do next year......... :o)

I have 2 passiflora that are 3 years old ,HUGE,and STILL have not bloomed,I chopped both of them back and they are now bigger that before I cut them but not a sign of a bud .I'm about ready to dump them!

CC, use a fertilize with low nitrogen(1st number in the NPK%). If you give them too much nitrogen, they take a long time to bloom.

I see the errors in my methods...thanks Calalily!!

I guess manure tea is out ,huh?
tried bloom booster....nothing......

CC, Don't give it any more fertilize till it blooms. Are they getting enough light?
I think manure tea would not be good, lol.

I think that passiflora would rather too little fertilizer than too much. Once a week is too often. Passifloras do need adequate potassium-(murate of potash, greensand)-and magnesium-(epson salts). Since yours are potted, you may want to wait a couple of weeks and add just these two ingredients once. Then lay off all fertilizer. And don't overwater.
