GH heater

Murrells Inlet, SC(Zone 8a)

I know this is the wrong thread to be posting this on but just wanted to share the great deal that I got this week at home depot on a propane heater. This past saturday i went and looked at heaters for my gh after viewing the thread on the gh forum.
They had several models to choose from some being thermostaically controled and others not.I was looking for something that is so I don't have to physically go out and turn it off and on. Two of the display models were on clearance. One was marked down from $249 to $70 and one from $199 to $99. I don't know much about these types of heaters so even though they were marked down to almost nothing I still didn't buy one.
Well on wendesday I went back with my father who is somewhat knowledgeable about propane equipment. We stood there looking over all of the heaters that the store had trying to decide which would serve my purpose better. It turned out that neither of the clearance models would work.
We then checked a few of the others that were not on sale. One that we were particularly interested in did not have a price so I had to get a sales rep to help us by looking up a price for it. It turned out to be about $149,not bad but still not what I was looking for.
I forgot to mention that once the salesperson started helping us he and my dad got to talking about gas cookers and such. Right up my dads alley. So as they were talking I noticed a heater way up on the tip top shelf out of reach. I asked the guy if he could get it down and possibly get a price on it. This was not his department but he was helping us anyway.
So he gets the bar code off of the box and goes over to the next isle. My father and I follow because the two of them are still non stop talking. My dad would talk to a fence post if it had ears to listen.
So the guy puts in the barcode ,sits there a few minutes looking dumbfounded and then gets up. As we start to walk back over to the other isle he says it's a penny. I didn't say anything,my dad said what. The guy says it's a penny, one cent. My dad and I both at the same time said sold.
It turned out that every now and again they will have an item that might just sit there and get overlooked for possibly a year or more. Such was the case with this heater that had a retail of $249 and I paid one penny for it brand new in the box.Turns out that they do this all the time with different items and just use it for a tax rightoff.
I'll proally never be so lucky again to get a deal like that.

Lucky you. I've gotten some deals before, but nothing like that.

I think they are discontinuing most of the gas operated items that they stock as far as heating goes and a lot of the items were priced between one cent and one dollar. I just wasn't expecting to get a heater for a penny though. And I don't think they advertise items marked down like that either. It's just a matter of someone finding it by acccident like I did I think.

David, you are one lucky guy!! It was obviously just what you needed too. Now, let's just hope that you don't have to use it much this winter.
