Just can never get enough of this one!
Everytime I think I've seen the best, it just gets better.
Ever the calex variagates.
'Snowbank' One Fantastic Brug!!
It's gorgeous Alice. I can't wait for mine to bloom!
Gosh Alice, that is just so pretty. I hope there will be enough time for mine to bloom this year. It has tiny buds and I can't wait. Great picture.
WOW, that's too cool. I would love to have one of those. Any chance of buying a cutting? I've never seen a variegated one before except for pictures here
Beautiful Alice. Boo Hoo both mine died in winter. 1 in the house and 1 in the GH. Don't know why.
Oh my goodness it is a beauty! Mine has no Y or buds yet! But it is pretty!!!
I think I need to go have a talk with mine. Wonder if I threaten it with the compost pile if it will decide to bloom?
That is one gorgeous brug!
Beautiful picture! Thanks for sharing it with us!!
How old is this plant? Mine is still only about 14 inches tall.
Just beautiful as all your brugs are!
Another beauty Alice! Mine is very slow growing.
I'm so disappointed. I won (my husband laughs at this) a Snowbank on Ebay. It arrived today, and when I opened the box, inside was a purple datura. Evidently the lady that won the datura received my Snowbank. Boo Hoo! Bah Humbug!
MG, u need not look too far, if u went to member store, http://38.scifstore.com/module/store/vbc/276/ there it is waiting for u to be ordered. sorry to hear ur bad experience on ebay.
Miniegrannie - I wouldn't hestitate to contact the e-bay seller. If she doesn't have another Snowbank to send you she should at least give your money back.
Alice- are your leaves small? Mine are very large but burn wherever I put the plant. I'm at a loss. Mine is growing well and has buds. But even in three hours of sun, it's burning. Any insight? Thanks so much. Your plant is very pretty.
Mine has big leaves, too, Kristi. No buds yet, though. I have it kind of sandwiched between several bigger plants. It was burning when it was more in the open, but hasn't been since I moved it to a more protected spot. It gets lots of light, but the bigger plants around it keep it partly shaded. It hasn't been burning, even though the temps have been 100º almost every day (until yesterday HOORAY!!!, only 97º - it may not sound that much better, but it is!).
Mine too Kristi. I'm just hoping that since it Y'd it will go ahead and bloom. I find that the only leaves that burn are the lower ones too. The top leaves are beautiful.
With mine, the white part just sort of "melts away"
It has beautiful flowers.
lhughes ..
This plant is just over a year old. It has been stopped at about 4 1/2' a few months now.
As it was tight in the pot, I just moved to a larger size hoping it will grow a little taller.
Snowbank habit grows straight up if a single stem. Then forms a nice umbrella.
The umbrella on this plant has broadened with each flush.
Flowow ..
This brug is patented. I respect.
I apologize, but can't do cuttings.
White edges melting/burning.
Possible the stresses of summer .. heat, humidity, etc.
That white part of the plant does not make it's own food, but supported by the green.
When the plant is stressed, the plant stops supporting and concentrates to preserve itself.
Sorry for the simplistic expanation, but essentially what happens.
As it cools, temps moderate, less stresses.. the white should do better.
I have this large plant in filtered full sun. Seems to like, but leaves brown a little once in awhile.
I have another outside in a pot in a half day full sun. It is with other plants that are always watered.
All the leaves are tight and less white and the whole plant a little stressed.
But no burning. ???
The leaves were huge as the plant grew before Y. As the umbrella formed, the leaves are smaller,
many, and tight. But the blooms larger than at first and good. Very lovely.
I have much enjoyed raising this plant from small. Plant in the photo is a gorgeous specimen.
I cannot go into the greenhouse and miss. I have really enjoyed growing Snowbank.
Yippee! I contacted the Ebay seller about the mixup of plants, and they are sending me another Snowbank and told me to keep the purple datura. The lucky lady who got my Snowbank is also getting her purple datura, so looks as if we both lucked out. Thanks anyway MaVieRose and Poppysue. If things don't work out, I'll take your advice.
I clicked on the hyperlink above to see about buying one but it says there are none there :(
I checked the link too, and got the same response. I am going to go cyber searching and see what I can come up with.
try this link, it lets you put it in the cart. http://38.scifstore.com/module/store/vbc/833/
Thanks tiG! It does work through your link. I even subscribed and still couldn't get to that point before. Now I gotta go see about ordering it.
Well, now I know I will have to try this brug. again. I lost mine early in the season and had read so much negative about it that I thought maybe it wasn't worth the effort. But I see how beautiful it can be, so I will give it another shot.
