My Nancy's Revenge ear just shot out a huge white center streak and I am still without a camera.
I AM SAD!
Oh Chele, I thought something terrible had happened! You shouldn't scare people like that!
I'll let you borrow mine, but you have to come get it!
Took a picture of mine last night. Maybe it will do until you get your camera. Sorry, I didn't take the time to clean the old leaves off. This one started as a co-op ear from this spring. You can tell by looking around that we have had no rain since June. Everything is nearly dead unless it is in one of the flower beds. Just can't water it all. I'm behind the water hose at least 4 hours a day now and some days more.
I forgot to mention that the planter is an old automatic washer tub. They sure work great for plants that need room.

Brugie, it sure is dry out there. We've had tooooo much rain up until about 2 weeks ago. Things are starting to dry out, but I hear thunder in the distance right now.
'chele! You shouldn't do that! I was like, 'oh no she needs a hug'. And then I get in here at it's just a camera?!?!?!? Go buy a disposable silly! Surely y'all have them at Target?
((((badseed)))) anyways :)
Sorry! I did not mean to scare ya! I didn't figure anyone would freak over a post in tropicals! LOL Wow Shirley, yours is big! Mine is from the co-op too. I was surprised to see the big creamy mark today. It was not there yesterday. This weather is so crazy! I am sorry you are having such a horrid dry spell.
Tell ya what Susie, you go wait by the curb and I'll be right there. giggle We both know better. ;)
Hmmm Angie, we do have them at Target. Wonder what it would cost to have pics saved to disk?
I don't know about the photo shop at target. I know they sell the disposable 'digital' cameras that supposedly automatically give you a disk with your prints. I know you can get a photo disk at Walgreens or CVS for like $5. A little pricey, so now y'all don't get to see the pics off my SLR, just DH's digital.
Susie, we haven't really had any rain since back in June. At least once a week I see lightning and hear thunder and it just goes around us. I'm ready to take brug cuttings and let things go. It has been too much work keeping things alive this year and for so very few blooms.
Brugie, we had a summer like that last year, no rain for 8 weeks. It was terrible. I finally let things just dry up. The perennials all survived. I was a bit surprised this spring when they came back up.
This summer has been totally opposite, lots of rain.
Well, dang it.....send some to us. You aren't going to need it in TN much longer, are you? LOL!! Come to think of it, maybe you better send some to south TX.
Brugie, you sure have put up a good fight! I could never do what you did all summer. I do about 1 1/2 hours and that is more than enough. Next summer will be better!
Now it has cooled off quite a bit and yesterday I only had to water twice. What a nice relief. I just sat and watched the hummingbirds fight over the feeders. Last night before dark, I did do some spraying. Will finish up this evening. We got about 1/1000th of an inch of rain yesterday. I was able to go back out and sit on the deck without sitting on a wet chair, so it wasn't even enough to settle the dust. Oh well, it is almost too late to make things pretty now, but the farmers could sure use some rain.
Michele....where is that camera? We are still waiting for a picture of your NR. :-)
Well Shirley, I am traumatized. Ebay. LOL GW suggested a camera based on what I wanted and her experience. There are so many models! I'm having a hard time locating the one she suggested. So, I have been looking them up online and making some calls. I know what I want. LOL Money is so hard to part with! It is killing me to be without my camera though. I may just run up the road and buy one tomorrow. Hard to spend two weeks pay. :0
We are enjoying some of that R word tonight. Been coming down lightly for a couple of hours. My back yard is looking much like a rain forest when it is not raining because then you can see the cracks in the lawn. LOL
We aren't going to get rain for at least another 5 days and then I don't expect to see any. I'm giving up!! That water hose has become a part of me now and I'd feel bare without it.
Shirley honey, I think you better start weaning yourself. Soon it will be cold out and if you are still walking around carrying a hose, well people *might* start talking. :) I guess if you are intent though, you could take up ice sculpture. LOL It ended up drizzling here all night. Looks like it may be a dreary ugly day. Sigh. Are we ever happy?
It has been raining here all day, nice slow drizzle,I could not be happier!
Well, up here with Brugie in the drought. Still no RAIN. Can't believe it is as close as Roots and we didn't get a drop. I think we are turning into a desert here. I am just so upset, told DH that we are not going to water as much as we have been. It gets very old dragging around hoses. It's been 2 mos. or more since we have gotten a good rain. I've never seen the grass so dry. The corn is burnt up, it still should be green and growing for another month. We can only hope next year will be better.
It is getting tough, isn't it Deb? That garden hose just gets heavier and heavier. I'm almost ready to dig, pot, and put things in the house for the winter. No results or at least few with the brugs is disappointing. The ears look great, but it takes lots of watering. I'm getting tired. Hope we get some rain tonight and tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. I think Root has roped those rain clouds and is holding them hostage over his place. They sure aren't coming far enough north.
Brugie; Being this is my first year for Brugs. It has been very disappointing for me. Frosty Pink is the only one to bloom and just one plant of her bloomed. Pristine lost her top loaded with blooms thanks to the wind. Alot of time, effort, water, fertilizer. I have been thinking along the same line as you. Pot the ears up and bring them in the house. Gonna, give those brugs a little more time to set blooms. They look great, really growing, have ye'd. At least it was cooler today. Root can unleash some of those rain clouds and send them up here.LOL..
It is STILL raining, got pretty hard last night,my castors are laid over, hope that is the only damage.I think we are at 1/2 ft of rain now, will try to get them to go north!
This spring, my castors went over several times. I did stake them up and once the ground dried out, they were fine and are standing straight still. Hey, maybe this was God's way of helping you get them out without a log chain and truck. Prop them up Doc, they will be fine once the sun shines again. I'd gladly give up my castors for some rain again. Maybe it will happen. Crossing everything I can. Fingers, toes, legs, heart......
I wish I could send you some rain Shirley. We have had some hot and dry spells but I think we have had more humid and rainy days. It has been raining here since early this morning. Heck, it is only 63 degrees right now. Oh, I bought a camera of Ebay, so by this time next week I hope to be able to post something. LOL
All Right!! Glad you took the plunge and will be able to show us your pictures again. I think I better go out and see if there is anything that needs my attention. Haven't even looked outside yet today and it is almost time for lunch.
Well Shirley, I just had a quick walk around my drenched yard and lost about a quart of blood to the skeeters. Ouch. I think I have six more brugs with Y's. Hallelujah! My other Nancy's are getting the streak too. :) I cannot believe how well the co-op ears have done even with my neglect. Most of them are four feet tall. The bananas are that big as well. My Leos are about to bust into bloom. I cannot wait to get my camera. I am missing all the blooms! LOL Oh my big white brug, just passed six blooms, which I may have actually pollenated, if the stigma turning black means a sure thing. Now I have fifteen more blooms about to open. I LOVE that brug! I did have to tie up one my castor beans and my ravenna grass.
My Leos started blooming last week and I'm reminded of it every time I run into the stickery little things. Mine stayed pretty short this year and got bushy. The one plant that live from you is what I'm talking about. Is it a shorter variety? I'm definitely going to save some seed from this one.
Shirley, some of mine are about seven feet tall while others are only about four. It seems they, like a lot of things, grow to fit the soil and water they are given. The ones that get pond water are the largest here. I think mine were finally narrowed down to be L. nepetifolia and not leonurus. Be careful collecting seeds. :)
