You should get some allium atropurpereum. Theyre near black and my favorite, Try Van Engelen or Scheepers . This is a must have! I have a purple black foliage pye weed. Not a black flower but still nifty!

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Have you thought of Evergreen Wisteria? Blooms are such a rich color of DEEP purple, that they almost black.
Would gladly send cuttings, or rooted cuttings if I knew enough about this plant to do this.
I have promised cuttings to others but just don't know when to do it or how.

Here's one I think you'd like...just saw it in
a seed catalog and thought of your posting.

Nemophila
"Penny Black"
a fast growing annual with exquisite flowers
with dark black petals highlighted with picoteed
white edge. Very unusual and sought after annual.

I have had my Evergreen Wisteria for over 3 yrs. It is in a 10g pot w/a 5' trelles to grow around. It does not grow wild like the regular purple one.
I have just had my first bloom of the yr this wkend & the bloom is better than 6" long. The bloom is almost black w/royal purple tints or hilites.
Just a thought! :~)

Clearfield, PA(Zone 5a)

Hi Moretz, There are some black daylilies but I don't know if they come true from seeds. You could check into them too. Hope this helps. Sandy

How about Irises?? Superstition is black & so are a few others.

Gonzales, LA(Zone 9a)

I have the Evergreen Wisteria and it blooms almost all summer and is really dark, but let me advise you...if you ever plant it, be sure you plant it where it can drop its flower peddels where they won't matter....mine is over a breezeway and it keeps it a mess allllllll summer long, but the fragrance is awesome. It doesn't take over like the regular one but it does grow quite rappidly.

Moretz, I think it is Evelyn_in_the_Garden who has a black garden. There was a thread about the various plants some time back... a year or so, I think.
