green bugs

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

What are those little green bugs that are taking up residence in the brug blooms, clear up in as far as they can go? They are eating everything in sight, including munching on my son's sunflowers. What will kill them, short of a nuclear blast? Am almost ready to resort to that, they are sooooo annoying. TIA.

Do you mean cucumber beetles http://www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/bugreview/images/photos/cucumberbeetle.jpg ? I think Sevin will kill them.

Nope, Cala, they are all green, kind of a chartreuse color.

Maybe aphids? Just spray them, should do the trick.

If you look in the middle of the flower in this picture, it's a baby tarnished plant bug. They are bad too http://www.nysipm.cornell.edu/factsheets/treefruit/pests/tpb/tpb_fig3.html but I agree with Hibiscus, sounds like aphids.

I'm dealing with these tarnished plant bugs now. They are very hungry. They get as far up in the bloom as they can get. Does Sevin kill them? I've never had luck with Sevin killing the cucumber beetles.

Have an awesome day, and know that someone has thought about you today.

Nope, not that either. Don't have a photo. May have to ask our farm crop consultant! :>)

Anna, yes, they would be the ones to ask. They know all kinds of stuff!

I sent him an email, I will post here what he thinks they are when he replies.
