Doing its thing again!
Big Show Coming Soon
I love it the look of the tendrils just starting to come out, it's a sign of good things to come!
This stage always reminds me of Giant Squids for some reason.

Isn't it fascinating to see these things emerge into such beautiful blooms? After more than 5 years of owning brugs, they still thrill me to see a bloom openeing. Still love them!
What type of brug is this one, Happenstance? Looks like you can expect a beautiful show!!!
Evening Morph -
I'm so new to these things, I would be afraid to even venture a guess. It was simply labeled "Double White" when I purchased it in May from a home center nursery.
I was able to get an ID on the "Yellow" ones I bought at the same time: 'Charles Grimaldi'. There is a thread about those brugs at this link. http://davesgarden.com/t/395291/

Lovely blooms on your first link and I was awestruck by the photo in your other thread! Just gorgeous! Now I think I know what CG means when I see the abbreviation in other threads ~ thanks!
We just had a terrible storm come through and my Pink Insignis (first bloom & brug for me) lost a good half of itself :( Well, I have a cutting now, to start for next year :)
I found a large piece of Insignis pink on the ground yesterday. I guess a squirrel jumped on it. This will be my first try at a cutting (from one of my plants). I put it in water, any other suggestions?
That's what I did, lhughes. When I see the roots emerging, I'll transfer to at least a gallon pot and let it get started for next year. Last year I put my cuttings in too small a container and since they don't like to be moved around, I learned to put them in a bigger container from the start. They out grew their pot and I thought I might lose them before I could transplant for the new season (which was delayed by so much rain!)
Very nice, let's see them when they are all the way open.
She looks very healty. Good job
Very very nice, looks good and healthy.
I love your Candida Double White blooms and the Charles Grimaldi blooms are just awesome. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.
That is a very pretty one!
That is just beautiful!
WOW!!!!!!
Very nice.
Dreamy ~ I'd love to sit out in your garden for the afternoon/evening right about now :)
Beautiful!
Beauty! Are you pollinating those blooms?
Did I read correctly... You bought your beautiful "double white" in May? How big was it then? Gorgeous!!
Hi poppysue -
Forgot to answer your question...."Am you pollinating those blooms?"
Well uhmmm....let's see....should I be? Haven't a clue, am just enjoying them and will read the Brug book I bought as the evenings darken earlier and earlier.
Oh, Happenstance, if you do pollinate the double white, might I trade you for some seeds??? I know it's awfully early to be even thinking about that, but your blooms are just TOO gorgeous not to ask ☺
How about if I be lazy and admit that I won't be reading the book soon.....anyone care to give me a lesson in Brug Pollination 101. Am I going from flower to flower (like the King of Siam) on the same plant using a soft paint brush or shaking them hard or blowing on them like a trumpet? :-)
Remember I've only had these since May, bought them on a whim and haven't a clue except that they are growing like Jurasic Park inhabitants and smell wonderful.
So after I follow the Pollination 101 lesson....then what?

I will find you a good link in a minute.
Look at these 2 threads:

Here is one that goes thru all the brug info

Okay.....after dinner and a few drinks, this is definitely something I will have to read through again at a later date.
I did get the part about you can't pollinate the 'Double White' from its own flowers. So if I only have 'Frosty Pink' and 'Charles Grimaldi' to use as the other parent, what do you end up with if the pollination works? How do you get 'Double White' seeds that would be true to the parent plant?
I think I was in love during the first semester of Biology and may have missed something important in that genetics course. :-)
