can't get card reader to work

Well,I'm slowly reinstalling all the stuff I lost when the puter acted up and I reformatted.
BUT,I reinstalled my "microsoft picture it",my photo software, and now I can't get the reader card to show up,so I can't get any photos off my digital.
The reader is hooked to the USB port and the computer knows its there,I can't remember if there was a cd that came with it,ad if there is ,I can't find it
WHAT CAN I DO??????
Its a Sandisk reader.......
