My very first EVER!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

I feel like a broken record but here is my very first brug bloom ever in my life! I am so excited!!! I hope I didn't mix the labels as I had this identified as a Pink insignis and it's so hard to imagine it changing colors...

But, I'm relying on what y'all have told me so I'll keep my fingers crossed. I hope the bugs don't eat the bloom. They've been after the leaves a bit :(

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Alright Morph!!!!!

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Thanks everyone ~ I'm so just so giddy with excitement ☺ This bloom started very gradually over a week ago and has just been teasing me ever since!!!! We just got back from a meeting so I'm going out to take pictures and see if there's more fragrance. Not a strong fragrance this afternoon.

I'll definately be taking pictures probably 3 to 4 times a day as I really want to remember this and how it changes! Thanks to everyone from A to Z; from sharing brug cuttings to answering my most ignorant questions!

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Congrats Morph. It's always exciting when they bloom.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

My Insignis pink has a small bud that I found yesterday. My only other plant that has bloomed is Dr. Seuss and that was such a thrill. I dragged all my friends and neighbors to look at it, and they would just ooooh and aaaah.

I also have a bud on Frosty pink, and I know how you all feel about Frosty, but I'm excited.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Well, late last night I'm glad I got a shot. A beautiful bloom with a wonderful fragrance! But, I don't know what happened overnight :( See next post for how it looked this morning.

Why did the edges get brown and why did it reverse itself from being so wide open?????

Morph, My Brugs close up (and even droop if it's hot) during the day. I suspect your edges turned brown due to the heat. But congratulations on your first bloom. Now, you will be very encouraged to grow more brugs, I bet. Nat

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, and it isn't white afterall. Way to go!!

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

morph, Congratulations, now you are really hooked. The only blooms I have had this year were CG earlier in the season. None of my other four varieties have opened a bloom, but there are a couple of buds. you haave been having very hot weather haven't you, I would think that is the problem. Donna

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Nat & Donna, thanks for the explanation. I thought brugs liked it hot since they usually grow in the warmer zones. Interesting, isn't it? Humidity maybe?

Brugie, I'm really amazed at how quickly it changed color! And, I sure am glad I got a picture when it was at its best. Though they don't look so swell, their fragrance is just as wonderful tonight ☺

I see you still have buds on the other branch, so you will get some enjoyment still this fall. I'm so sorry it had to break when it was so pretty, but that seems to be the way Mother Nature Works. Maybe she is trying to see how strong we are.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Yes, indeed, Brugie! There's probably a reason that I don't know. I'm feeling a little better now. This moring I was so shaky after the storm swept through so quickly and had inflicted its wrath!

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6b)

Just saw this thread - way to go Morph!!! That first bloom is very exciting.

Mukwonago, WI(Zone 5a)

Congrats...morph. The first will always be the BEST. Looks like there are many more to come. So once the temps decline..... LOOK OUT ...and be sure to have a lot of batteries on hand for the camera...LOL
