I like the way the thyme is hugging the rock. How old is it? Just this year's growth? I noted in the plants database that it's not hardy to your zone (nor to mine-5). But I would sure like to use it in my garden. How do you/will you winter it over? And that it's a herb. Do you know what the herbal uses are? Any flowers on yours? Thanks. So many questions!
Roshana, I think this is a marginal herb... it's so fuzzy I wouldn't want to use it in some applications. It is, however, a charming plant in a rock garden. I know a gardener here in my Zone3 that has wintered it over, so I'm hoping for the best. I think some herbs are not actually used by most growers as herbs, but they are so aromatic or charming that we grow them anyway!
Thanks, Weezingreens. Good luck at wintering it over. Should be even better next year!
Hi Weez, I winter the wooly thyme over and so does my aunt Judy down on 7th avenue. Hers has been there for at least 5 years.
