Yes, I grow Passiflora trifasciata. It makes a lovely vine. I was given a small plant in the spring. Seeds are not my thing. Maybe we could trade.

I tried the seeds last winter and never got any germination.

P. trifasciata is one of the easiest passiflora to make cuttings from. I use the layering method and Clonex rooting gel and most passiflora root in 2 weeks. Now if the #@%&^# lovebugs would just let up a while, I could go start a few. They are in masses around here. Horrible.

Flicker I would love to do a trade when you get some cuttings started........... :o)

WillowWasp, do these die back in the winter or do you bring some in for next yr or what?

Smockette,I really can't answer your question on that since I havn't grown them before......I like the foliage and bought some seeds.....just planted them last week.....I am trying to get a plant or two since they seem to be pretty hard to germinate......Flicker could tell what she does for hers and her growing conditions would probably be pretty close to ours if Covington is southern Louisana........... :o)

Oh, my! My old-heimers is kicking in again.
I started that message to Flicker & got confused & went back & put your name on it! Oh, duh!
So, Flicker, same question!
And another one while I'm asking. Have ya'll ever seen a 'brown leaf' hosta or ginger? The leaves can get quit large, 4-6". It puts up, straight up, a spike & then flowers fr the spike with purple flowers about nickel size?
I have tried looking it up but can't find it & the little things are blooming their spikes off in my back yard.:~)

This is my first year to grow P. trifasciata. I live in z8b. A friend who owns a nursery here is trying one outside this coming winter. I will put mine in a smaller pot in the greenhouse this winter.

Flicker,,,,,That is just beautiful.......I'm keeping my fingers x's and hoping mine will sprout...... I love the foliage.....Does it have any red in the leaves?? I can't see any in the photo....... :o)

The new growth has a reddish tinge. I have mine too near the porch for full sun. I think I would have more pink in the leaves if it got more sun. I think passiflora seeds can be very difficult. There has been lots of discussion on the PASS-L listserve as to how to prepare the seeds for planting. Soaking for 24 hours is a must. Some people soak them in orange juice, most use water. The best is to plant straight from ripe fruit.
If you are really interested in Passiflora, reading the archives of PASS-L would be a real education.
