Takes the heat well

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

This is Rosamond.I crossed this flower two days ago in near 100F heat.Nights are hot and humid too sometimes in the 80's at midnight. The cross seems to have taken and the flower is still fresh even in the heat and humidity. Most other flowers wilt and die quickly in this heat. Most crosses on this plant take about 90%.So ya know I luv it! Using it for its heat resistant qualities in crosses.

Looks like a winner!

I really like the heat resistant brugs. I like having the folage as well as the blooms. It makes the blooms that much prettier against the green leaves.

Kyle,
How can you tell exactly if the cross has taken? What are the indicating factors? I did a couple of crosses last week. On Eric's new hybrid seedling the flowers fell off the next day, but the flowers on the Rosa Traum hybrid plant remained. What should I be looking for?

A top brug!!! Do you know its history Kyle? It does great in the cooler weather also. It pods like crazy and has many different shapes it takes on over the course of its life. Sunday mine turned the darkest pink it has ever been, as a send off I think! LOL

They also are just huge!! If I could only have one I would pick this one. I think.....................

joydie..the stigma will turn brown shortly after pollinating..its a good indicator that the cross took...and the flowers should remain a few days even after crossing. If they wilt and fall off the next day..I doubt the cross took.

Kell Rosamond is another Rothkirch baby....related to rosabelle,rosalie,rosa..and the list goes on! :-)

This one is very pretty! Hey, I wish I had known about the stigma turning brown. I could have done something besides watched my white stigmas hang on for three days before the whole things fell off. LOL I'll know for next time. :)

Badseed the tip of the stigma turns brown...not the whole style.

Kyle,
Mine took!! Gosh I will have my first seed pods. Mind you I brought one plant indoors and all the large leaves dropped off within 2 days. The plant looks pathetic, but I can see a swollen area developing just the smallest little bit.
