What a lovely feeling to find someone asking about me when I am absent a few days. I have people I consider good friends who don't do that and they live close to me.
Well, after the plumbing job, it was calm for a few hours. Then I had to return to the usual ratrace. Shad and I had to park cars for Boy Scouts on Thursday and he did it on Friday so I had to at least take him to Sedalia and go get him. I helped park on Thursday(mostly took the money). Shad moved back with his mother and sister Saturday. I was suppose to work at Powell Gardens for the Butterfly festival. But I ended up staying only an hour or so. I had the van packed with Shad's belongings including some computer items. It also appeared that they had more than plenty of volunteers. So I went on up to Kris's new home and helped her and the children get some moving in done. Ended up spending the night and gettng them started(I hope)in a new church not far from them in Liberty. About 7:30 in the evening we decided to go get a mattress for Kris and eat at Pizza Street. Well, we closed Sam's Club getting her just a mattress then closed Lowe's getting a sheet of plywood to put under the mattress because she didn't get or have a box springs. She and Shad had to cut it down to size on Sunday but for Saturday night the entire sheet of plywood was on top of the twin size frame with the mattress on top of it. The house is quite doable and she has a nice large fenced in backyard. The realitor said she can garden all she wishes. I expect to see work on that start in just a couple weeks. There is a nice stable not far from her where she can get all the stable cleanings she wants and can haul off. I have 5# of waterabsorbing crystals on order so she can use some of them in the beds she'll be making as well as in pots.
When I got home Sunday afternoon I discovered the second freezer was badly frosted and some stuff was thretening to start thawing. Jack said to just go to bed and face it this morning so I did. We went to town to get tractor parts-sedament bowl and filter & some other stuff, watered the perennials at the church, tried to get a new seal for the freezer at Sears but couldn't because the part of the plate that has the model# on it is missing. We went to the grocery discount store and got a lot for our money as usual. Then home to wipe out the freezer and get it started again. As soon as it is really down to cold temps I start putting the foods-mostly meats-back in it. Right now it is in cooler chests and a storage box in the shower. I know some of it is getting too unfrozen but I really don't have a choice right now. I took measurements on the seal and we'll try to get one based on that information. I was supposed to go to Powell Gardens today but there was just no way I could do it all.
How did everyone else's weekend go? Mary, did you ride again?
I'm so glad Kenny is doing better. Happy Birthday, Kenny. I'm glad the children are staying with you and Kenny, Linda. Depression is so hard on families. It's much better if children don't have to be exposed to it day after day. And this is such an educational experience for them in so many ways.
God bless and keep each and all of you.
Thanks for caring about me when I'm gone awhile.
