BOTH ARE IN CLAY POTS-MAYBE I NEED TO WATER THEM MORE?!

newangel: You need to move them up to 5 gallon pots. They are rootbound in those small pots. You move them up to bigger pots and they should take off. Some of mine that I transplanted to 5 gallon pots in May are 6 ft. tall and starting to set blooms. 5 gallon paint buckets are fine. Your season is longer than mine, so you still have lots of growing time left. Welcome to Dave's.
Must be the heat bothering me, I just noticed your zone 8. You can grow them in the ground and they will come back and act as a perennial. They will get even bigger, sooner in ground.

Clay pots are horrible for wicking out moisture. If you really want to use a clay pot because it is decorative or for whatever reason, you may want to sink a plastic container inside the clay one. Welcome to DG and also to your new addiction!! LOL

I'm new to Brugs also. A sweet lady on this forum sent me some cuttings early this year & 2 of them made it, but it sounds like I might need to pot them in larger pots. The biggest is only about 3' tall & no sign of blooms. They are in part sun, should I move them to where they get more sun?

Mine flower in partial sun to full sun. But they all like a big pot!

I use huge clay pots, harder to steal! LOL. I came up with this, I now put a huge plastic 24 inch saucer under each pot and fill it with water when I water the brugs. It keeps them wet for an extra day. I then put a quarter of a pool dunk in each saucer for the summer. That keeps the mosquitos from laying eggs or kills them.......

Someone posted a pic of a grass covering that is sold at Walmart..wally's world...but I can't find the thread to get the name again. It is supposed to work well to keep the soil moist.

WELCOME NEWANGEL AND HOSTENQUILTS!!

Newangel and Hostanquilts:

Welcome to Dave's Garden and our Brugmansia family. This is a wonderful place where the people are friendly and generous. I've had my first Brugmansia for almost nine months and I've learned more here about caring for Brugs than I could have learned from any textbook. Your knowledge will soon grow by leaps and bounds! :-)
