Here is a picture of Country Music T. Hibiscus.
Country Music Hibiscus
Pretty one.
mine hasn't bloomed yet :(
Lordy that is a pretty one!
It's beautiful!
I love this one.
I'M SO GLAD THEY'RE NOT FRAGANT--I'D GO CRAZY WITH SOMETHING THAT PRETTY THAT SMELLED GOOD TOO.
I got mine from Cala too but not blooms...........what am I doing wrong? The plant looks very healthy, just no blooms
I think this one came form Susie too....boy that Susie gets around. LOL
No fair. All of you guys' have bloomed and mine hasn't :(
Green thumbs! Sorry, yours' will bloom, I hope.
I've gotten everything else to bloom except for the passiflora and that hibiscus
Which P. Flwr.? I got Coccineas. We had so much rain they stayed too wet, kicked the bucket. Are you fertilizing? I use the 15-30-15 on hibiscus and P. Flwrs.
I'm not sure which is which right now. I do know that I have about 3 different ones and none of them are blooming this year
My Country Music is blooming and is even prettier in person. I love the way the center sticks out. How's that for correct terminology? :(
one of my favorites too.
Great pictures. I love hibiscus, but killed too many last winter to start collecting them again.
I'd appreciate any information about the 'Country Music' cultivar. I'd especially like 'Country Music' growers to also address the following questions:
Do you prefer to grow your plant in the ground or in a container? Why?
How often do you fertilize?
Can the plant be pruned to keep it at the desired size?
I bought three of these beauties from Cala's Co-op. They have beautiful, healthy, dark green leaves and are growing well. I have them in six inch pots and plan to repot them into one gallon pots. I'd appreciate any information that anyone is willing to share about this cultivar.
flowox,
you are not alone - my country music hibiscus looks great, too, but no blooms.
ooooooh, I just found a bud this morning.......lol
can't wait for it to bloom now!!!!
Lucky you, flowox! I also have a country music hibiscus that looks great, but, alas, no blooms yet.
Delecie, this is my first attempt at hibiscus, so I'm definitely no expert. I have mine in a pot, about to be repotted up as well. I've been fertilizing it whenever I think about it with my basic MiracleGro stuff. Maybe one of these days it will surprise me.
Thank-you Heather. This is also my first attempt at Hibiscus. When I saw it listed in Cala's co-op and saw the beautiful photograph, I was instantly hooked. I'm sure someone will have pity on us novices and post some great information for us. I have been scouring the Internet and reading about Hibiscus but I have not found any information that is specific to this cultivar.
I am no expert, but have had them for years. Keep most in 6" pot, or slightly larger as needed. We have had a lot of rain, so plants all grew large. I fertilize whenever I think about it. 15-30-15. They are prone to get spidermites when you bring them inside all winter. I keep them growing upstairs in well lit room, they bloom most of winter. After blooms in fall, when no more showing, I trim them back to about 6"-8", mostly for space reasons. Hope this helps.
I keep mine in large pots, probably 5 gal. I have two that are over twenty years old. Each year I cut them way back when I bring them inside. Delecie, they will look like they have died, but keep watering, as they will start to put on tiny little leaves where the old ones fell off. Do prune them way back or they will get leggy instead of bushy.
Just be sure they are in a place where they will get plenty of light. I had a bloom once in Feb., when it was freezing cold outside.
Thank-you Hibiscus and catlady. Since both of you have your plants in pots, I will keep two in pots and plant one in the ground. Because I live in zone 10b, I will leave them outside year round, unless we're threatened with a hurricane.
At the moment the plants are in my back yard which has a western exposure. They receive plenty of sun and I'm looking forward to continued healthy growth and blooms. As soon as I get a bloom, I will post pictures.
Does anyone have any idea how tall and wide the plant that I'll put into the ground might become if left to grow naturally?
