Herrenhauser still changing color

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

This is Herrenhauser on it's 3rd day. It's still changing and darkening orange. There are 5 buds on the plant so far. This bloom is going to stay whole. The next will be pollinated.

That beautiful Liz. I go out everyday to check mine for buds. But none so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

DonnaB ~ I think it was just it's time to bloom. I've had it for 2 years and it was going to the compost this fall if it didn't produce. It's not in a protected spot. It gets full sun all day and is even lashed to a railing because it was blowing over in the wind we get everyday from 9am to 5pm. It hasn't been coddled. I think this one just needs patience. We'll see if it continues to bloom, the jury is still out on whether it stays.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

pretty pic. will move mine to full sun tomorrow, lol...

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I tried my new idea on my buds, tomato blossom set. It is a hormone, sprayed it every 7 days, just two times. Those buds shriveled up and I picked them off, have new ones coming on again.

Glad you had luck with yours' Liz. Mine is also 2 yrs. old, never bloomed, buds (three times), dropped.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Wow Liz, what an accomplishment. I just don't think they like the heat that we have and I also think they like cooler nights.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

You have to touch Liz!Fantastic!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Congrats! I have been told that it likes to be root bound. Hehe, I wonder if sometimes just telling the plant what you are going to do to it isn't the best medicine.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am really impressed someone finally got one to bloom! Lucky you! It looks like a beauty.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I'll take another picture in the morning. It's finally fully orange. It takes almost the lifespan of the bloom to reach full color. 4-5 days. But it sure is pretty. I hope this isn't the only flush (5 blooms ~ ha!)of the season.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

This is a 5th day bloom. Love it.

The bloom is still hanging on and looking good. This is day 6. It looks like it has a few more days left in it. So at least when it starts to bloom it blooms for a long time.
