My Creamsickle plant is finally starting to bloom. I can't believe how big these blooms are. The final color is peach. I'd like them even if they stayed white. It is taking about three days for them to turn color and by that time, my blooms have holes in them from the cucumber beetles. Makes me sick, but I can't kill the bugs without ruining the blooms.
Creamsickle...no color yet
wow - it's just amazing how beautiful these blooms are.
Gosh Brugie, that sure is a big bloom. It's beautiful. I hope mine grows and blooms by this fall. Maybe the bugs won't get this one and you can show a picture of it after it changes color.
glad its blooming for you! Ms Frannie, yours will.
Nice big flower brugie........wish it had been open when I was down there. :-)
Thanks!! Frannie, why did I think I was supposed to get one for you this fall? I know I'm losing it. Have been looking at too many tomatoes evidently. LOL!! I know the other one I'm supposed to send you.
Kyle, I hope this bloom will last long enough to turn peach. I wish I had a lot of blooms but this year is really strange. Not much happening with my brugs at all. Golden Lady has bloomed a lot and a couple of the suaveolens have been good bloomers, but all the rest have just a few blooms and they are done. Very disappointing.
So glad this bloomed for you Brugie! Mine never dropped or turned peach, just a pale cream. It is sure huge in every regard. The peduncle is so long! LOL. It took me forever to find my stamen to pollinate it, but I did! It was thick with its own pollen.
I sure hope the rest of yours perk up and take off!
Wow!!!!!!!!!!! That is one HUGE bloom! It looks like it is made of tissue paper on the enlarged photo. My cutting isn't very big yet, only about 6 inches or so; looks like no blooms for me this year.
Brugie, Beautiful-it is a very nice plant. Blooms here in our heat repeatedly, as long as I can remember to feed it enough.
It's very pretty and fluffy! Do you have it in the ground or in a pot?
Brugie,
I'm so happy for you that your cremesickle bloomed. You've waited a long time for this to happen.
Brugie, I'm having a disappointing year too. I thought there would be loads of flowers. I'm getting a few but not enough to keep me happy.
Sue, that is all that I am getting . . a few blooms this summer. I think the 100 degree temps. is far too hot for brugs to bloom successfully. I am looking forward to fall and hope that I see many.
Brugie, I just got a creamsickle but still keep me in mind. You know how I manage to kill them from time to time. . . LOL
Beautiful, absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Creamsickle is on my "Most Wanted" list. Any of you lucky brugaholics out there with cuttings, please think of me.
I'm researching digitals. What do you use?
Thanks everyone....this one is in a 15 gallon pot. Anything smaller than that and I wouldn't be able to keep it watered. Huge plant too. I didn't have any trouble finding the stigma to pollinate, but I tore it open from the side. It is really a heavy flower.
Awesome Brugie. My cutting didn't make it last fall so it's on my wish list again too.
That is one gorgeous and huge flower even if it does not change colors. When you get to whacking on things this fall, I'd love to have one if you have it to spare. If not, not problem at all. I still have to figure out where to put all the others that still REFUSE to bloom! lol
Michele, E me around the first of October. This plant is huge, so it won't be a problem to find you a piece.
Cool Brugie! Thanks! Let me know if I have anything you want. :)
They smell really good too, Brugie mine never colors up before it starts looking bad. I think the humidity is to much for it, I guess I will wait and see what it does this fall.
Shirley--that is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tracey, it has been so hot that none of the blooms are going to drop their skirts now. I'm convinced that it is just too hot here for this one. I have it in afternoon shade. If the plant weren't so big, I'd move it into all day shade and see if that would help. Thanks Snag. Will get you a piece of this one later if you will remind me.
It looks Huge!!Very nice indeed!
