Anyone recognize this one? It's about the size of lady beetle. It he good? Or bad?
More bugs......
That worm is UGLY!! I'm not familiar with leaf rollers. Are they worms?
Most leaf rollers make a small brown, rust or tan moth. Some are called bell moths because when resting they are bell shaped.
Is your beetle a flea beetle? How big is it?
Calla, it's bigger than a flea beetle... it's ladybug sized. It didn't look like he was eating the plant so I let him be. Hope I don't end up being sorry.
Well, I couldn't find any bad ones that looked like it!
Maybe he's neutral :)
Poppysue, GREAT SHOTS. That worm looked "up to no good". I'm taking a survey before my decision on a digital. What do you use?
I just got my camera a couple of months ago. I'm still learning how to use it. It's a Nikon Coolpix 2500. It's my second digital and it's a cheap one (under $200). I chose it because of the price, and it has a decent optical zoom.
Thanks for the information. I love the detail in the close-ups. (and that's about the price range I'm looking for).
Here's a good site if you want to stay within a certain price range http://reviews.cnet.com/Digital_cameras/2001-6501_7-0.html?tag=cnetfd.glnav
Thanks, so much information out there.
I can't believe that camera was under $200. Did you get a deal?? was it an older model?
The close ups are fantastic! It is such a small camera. I see it is only 2.1 mega pixels but it can do 8 X 10s. Your night time shots Sue, does it take great ones in the dark with no added light?

No deal. That's the going price on this one. I paid $190-sumthin and when I looked it up on the Nikon website there was a $50 mail in rebate to print out that I wasn't even aware of.
I pretty much use my pictures on the web only. I don't have much interest in printing them out... so for the money, I think this is a good, little camera. I've only been using the auto setting so far but I need to get the book out and learn how to use the manual settings. It has a dozen or more scene modes for different situations, even one for beach/snow scenes. Another cool feature is that the lens rotates.... which means I don't have to lay flat on the ground to shoot up inside the brug flowers! It will rotate completely around so you can take a picture of yourself and still see the image in the view finder.
I've been bored with my flowers so now I'm onto bugs.
I don't know about the bugs being good or bad but they sure are great shots.
It is fantastic in closeups. How about night shots?
That's a great picture Poppysue.
That's Rosamond. She's my favorite :)
Thats gorgeous Sue and I love that flower...
and I'm jealous of your camera
Great picture Sue. Love that color. Much more intense in night pictures.
I HAVE BEEN CHEATED!!!!!! ABUSED AND MISUSED!!!! My Rosamond blooms just regular pink.......NOT HOT PINK!!!!
Sue, is this the real color in real life???
That's a beautiful deep color on your Rosamond brug, Poppysue. Your camera is a great deal and I'd never heard of a rotating lense AND for under $200!
Sometimes when I take night pictures my camera doesn't know what to focus on. How does yours do that?
Are there any brugs that get any darker than that? Which makes me wonder, I might have my purple datura blooming at the same time as the Pink Insignis we were chatting about on another thread. Could I cross pollinate those? Is that possible? Is it recommened or a bad idea?
What a great photos Sue of Rosamond and the bugs!
I know nothing Root but I believe they are orange and black furry things.
See that proves it! LOL. I wonder what I had tons of then. And to think I let them eat my passion flower vine bare!
Kell, the gulf frits eat the passiflora. They are good butterflies and so pretty.
Are they orange and black furry things?
Life cycle of Gulf Fritillary. http://www.sasionline.org/fritillary/fritillary.html
Mine were huge, orange and black striped and furry!
Thanks girls!Something told me to let this one live, even though he had started to munch my L'Amour x Butterfly, maybe he thought the tag said "here butterfly you will love this one"I don't think they read very well!
Root, I bet that's what it was. It saw that Butterfly tag and thought it was an open invitation to munch away!
Kell, when you say fuzzy, do you mean like a wooly bear kind of fuzzy?
Looked like these........... soft like fur.......... but the orange and black stripes were thinner and repeating.

Maybe a yellow bear? http://www.cirrusimage.com/Yellow_Bear_Caterpillar.htm
Sue, your brug picture is beautiful. I love Rosamond.
Kell, maybe the difference in color is due to temps/soil differences. I sure see differences in my blooms compared to yours and others. Your Rosamond pictures have been really pretty too.
