Thanks

I first found these beautiful palms at Busch Gardens this past week new year's eve. I don't normally like palms but this one i really would like to find out more about. It is called the "Black FishTail Palm" on the sign below the tree. You have it listed as a "Fishtail palm". I'd like to find out if this Palm can be purchased and a waht the cost is? I know it grows in Florida and I know it gets pretty big. It's a beautiful palm tree.

There are several species called Black Fishtail Palm- any of the species that form a black trunk as a seedling. The two most likely are Caryota gigas and Caryota no. Both are common (especially the former) and do very well in most warm climates. But they DO take up lots of room. Here's a photo of one in So Cal

Here's another shot of one next to a Royal palm (normally considered a pretty large palm) just to give you some comparison of size and how much room these do take up.
