ohhhh that is beautiful!!!
Bob; I have a similiarly sized shrub with ONE BLOOM. It's blue, but what am I doing wrong?? PS I live in the Boston, Mass area. Thanks, Mary
You need to live on the coast of Oregon. I don't and that is why I can't get them to do this. Most people want blue blooms, so sounds like you're doing fine. Your soil must be very acid... the more acid (to a point) the bluer the flowers, or so I'm told. Most people end up with pink blossoms since their soil's not acidic enough. If you want pink, you may need to add something to the soil to increase its pH... like lime (not TOO much!).
I came across a white Hydrangea this year (September) and the blooms were wonderfully fragrant. I never noticed much fragrance with Hydrangea before. Does anyone know what cultivar or species this might be? Flowers were more cone shapped like that of Oakleaf, but it did not have the typical oakleaf leaves.
What a stunning Hydrangea shrub, large in size and flower head count!!!! A beautiful blue to top it off! Hope my baby plant grows to be this attractive.
