Moretz, I think tropical is in the eye of the beholder. LOL I too have ears, bananas, castor beans, cannas, etc. I leave some daylilies and types of daisies in there for sparks of color with all the leafy stuff. I have tropical hibiscus, Leonotis, rhubarb, brugs, clerodendron, grasses and so on. My idea of tropical is big lush leafy stuff, but also densely planted areas. Have fun!

Good question Root!! Kyle said his cardoon was more serrated than mine. Now another question....where does one buy cardoon seeds and are there different kinds? Mine is more solid leafed than Kyles, but I still like it as a great filler plant and it's tropical looking too.

Hey Root, don't feel bad about mailing on Saturdays! I wish I could. The postal people told me they cannot leave anything sit in the post office over the weekend, so anything dropped off must be picked up that day. When I mail on Saturdays, boxes make it to their destinations by Mon or Tues almost always.

Thanks Kyle,I think I saw one at the Home show, should have grabbed it.

One of my favorite tropical looking plants that isn't tropical is Swiss Chard. I like the Bright Lights Mix varieties. Great rough foliage and fabulous colors! It tastes yummy too, as you can see that I picked some leaves.
