caterpillar ID

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Although I have been aorund them all my life, I know very little about butterflys and the worms oops, caterpillars that they grow from.
I have lots of small (1 inch) cats that are ORANGE with black hairs sticking up. Anyone know what they are, good or bad? Or where I can look them up without a name?
Thanks a million

A good place to look for cat ID is the following site:

http://www.whatsthiscaterpillar.co.uk/

It's a site from the UK but has a NA section in it.

Thanks Pan, that was so helpful and I found it! It is a common one here, I should have known. Gulf Fritillary. Now, another question. If they are on a plant in a very bad spot, can I take them off and move them to a better place without hurting them?

Sure no prob just make sure that the host plant at the new spot is the same type.

I have moved many cats. Usually if you hold a bowl under the leaf and gently poke at the cat with a stick it will let go and fall in the bowl. Just make sure to move it to the right host plant.
For the Gulf Fritillary it would be Passiflora. All passion vines are not used, so put them on one you have seen cats on before.
