I have my gingers in so many different places and I am not sure which kinds like sun/shade. I want to move them to appropriate places in the near future.
I have elizabeth, variegated spiral, hidden, globba, variegated shell (sorry, I don't know real names and am so good at losing tags after I plant). If I need to I can look them up to get some help. Was just hoping some of you ginger specialist could help quicker.
Thanks a million
Connie

Hey weeds, here ya go: http://davesgarden.com/t/376509/ does this help?
Yep, sure does but what is a hidden ginger? cucurma? and variedgated shell, what kind is it?
whoops sorry, yes weeds, curcuma is the hidden ginger family and the v.shell is Alpinia zerumbet. Alpinia like full sun to part shade.
Thanks! I have 2 curcumas blooming now in full shade, this is why I get so confused!
weeds, they will bloom in the shade, but they like the sun much better. If left in the shade, the plant will eventually stop blooming. There after, the foliage will also begin to slowly fade away over the years.Curcumas are native to drought prone areas of tropical Asia & Australia. There are also 2 types of bloomers, the early spring bloomers and the late summer bloomers, which are the ones starting to bloom now.
