I put this on the International Forum, but I'll post it here as well in case there's anyone interested who doesn't usually visit over there.
I need some more exciting trades of unknown seeds, so I'm organising a multiple lucky dip trade of unusual seeds.
Anyone interested sends me 10 packets of their most unusual seeds (alpines, perennials, fruit, shrubs, trees, tropical, vines - not veggies or annuals), labelled with their Latin name.
If you only have small amounts of lots of things, you can make up a Mixed Trade of several small packets (each labelled, please) to count as one.
They can be all the same or all different.
You can send more than 10 packets if you like. You'll get back however many you send in.
Please send them in a padded envelope, by Priority Air Mail, to arrive by 16th June. Include your e-mail address and your postal name/address.
I'll put them all in a big envelope and pick out ten packets for each participant (or however many packets you sent in), and send them back to you by Priority Air Mail by 23rd June.
I'm not doing wish lists, but if there's any type of seed you particularly like or don't like, you can put in a note and I'll see what I can do, but I'm not promising anything.
E-mail me for my address if you want to join in or if you have any suggestions or questions.

I was so relieved today to get an e-mail from someone I've not traded with, telling me I have a reputation as one of the best traders on GW!
Clearly, GW is not the place for serious traders. I've never got a decent response to any of my posts there, but I have contributed answers to the newbies' questions on Seed Saving and Growing from Seed. Never again. Anyone who stays on GW is as mean-spirited as Spike.
So, as I now have promises of several nice goodies for the pot, can I interest anyone else in joining up for this Lucky Dip?

A great shame-their loss. Have mine going out on Monday.My seeds may not be the seeds of a very experienced gardener but I tried to carefully choose the things I do have that are not so commonly offered. And Mary if there happens to be anything in there which you would like please take it for setting this up Shirley
I thought some of the comments may have resulted from Mary not having a "presence" on GW, (no home page, etc.) and some of the GW members are undoubtedly leery after all the spamming and virus stuff that happened earlier this year; can't blame 'em for that.
Mary, why don't you post a reply and let them know you've been actively trading at another site, and they can e-mail you if they are interested in more information? It might enlighten some of them that there are other places to trade on the web, and probably won't get you Disneyed, since you wouldn't actually mention DG in your post. Just a thought.
I would love to join in with you on this but i do not have any seeds that fit the criteria. (I am a newbie and just do not have anything but annuals and veggies, YET!.)I also saw your post over on the other board. Sad that folks think the worst of people all the time. Oh well, just look at it this way they won't get any cool seeds!!!
I think you had a great idea and i applaud you for offering to do all the work to make it work. Keep it up and i will join in with you any time i have something to fit.
