What hibiscus?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I grew it from seed labeled 'Kenaf' (Hibiscus cannabinus). The flowers look too showey to me.

Here's the leaves and buds. The stems are sort of thorny.

What was the final verdict on yours? I think it might be the same but the leaves look like they don't have as many segments. Was yours thorny?

I don't remember if a definite name was ever found. Seems like Floridian hit it or hit close. I didn't read back through my thread when I posted it. LOL I did also post it on the tropical forum. Oh, and yes, there were thorns up the branches and I think on the stem.

It looks pretty close... if not a match. I'll save you some seeds. This is in a little pot. I never got it planted in the ground. I almost tossed it on the compost but I figured I'd wait and see what it did first. Now I wish I had planted it.

How big is yours? Mine ended up getting about six feet tall last year with big arching branches I had to tie up. LOL It was quite sprawly.
