Dr. Seuss, my first future blooms

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

This photo was made on Sunday. How much longer before the flower comes out? I plan to be out of town this week end. Hope it doesn't happen then!!

Looking good. Amazing how they will fill out and get so big.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Usually after you see the calyx open up and the bloom start dropping down, it will take a few more days. You will see blooms for sure, but it will probably be after you get back. Even if some open over the weekend, they won't all open at the same time. Hope you show us your brug blooms when they open. Isn't it exciting?

This afternoon the tip of the oldest bud has 1/2 inch of tendrils(?) sticking out. I'll send a photo, can hardly wait. Based on things I read today, I gave everybody a MG + Epsom salts foliar shower.

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Hold your breath it won't be long now. Congrats.

Yay for you!!!-----hope you dont miss a single bloom :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Mine went from tendrils peaking to about 8 inches sticking out in two days. They are still lengthening and I guess the darn things will poof out any day. LOL

Rock Hill, SC(Zone 8a)

good picture. Mine are still just putting out leaves. That looks like a perfect picture of a Y that I keep hearing about. When did you plant yours?

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

This is a cutting from JT that I got in April. This will be my first bloom.

Rock Hill, SC(Zone 8a)

Ihughes, I got mine there too, but june. Hope they will look like yours soon. Is you last name Hughes? I have kin in Columbus, Ga. that are Hughes.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

Not my family. I'm looking forward to meeting you in October. This RU sounds like a "hoot."

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

You will love Dr. Seuss because it just blooms and blooms and it is very fragrant. Take a picture for us when you return.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I can hardly wait. The bloom is out about 4 inches today. It's like waiting for a baby. I'm so excited.

Rock Hill, SC(Zone 8a)

So you are going over to the Ga. roundup too, great. Looking forward to meeting everyone. How much plant food have you been using? I just heard to sock it to them. But how much is that?

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I don't have a clue what I'm doing. I just follow the advice of those here, who produce such great blooms. I mix systemic rose food and 10-10-10 equal parts and put about 2T per week in each pot, then i water with MG several times a week. Yesterday I gave a foliar feeding of Epsom salts but haven't had time to see results (it was raining this afternoon when I got home).

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Cheryl, it wouldn't be a snake, it would be a giant alien clownfrog! Kell would send it to get you.
Ihughes those first blooms seem to take forever to open don't they?

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

This morning it looks like it's trying to, getting wider at the bottom. It will probably wait until Saturday when I'm not at home.

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

I had 1 bloom Friday morning before I left town, and this is what I had when I returned Sunday afternoon.

Here is another shot, 7 blooms total with more buds on the way. The fragrance is wonderful. I moved the plant from the yard to the deck before I left.
