After throwing out all the typical south Mississippi plants, the vision for my yard is finally taking shape. This is the second flowering of the Coral Bean.
Reason for calluses and dirt under fingernails
Beautiful!!!!Yes that is the best reason for dirty fingernails,a garden that looks like yours!!!!!
Barb, your gardens are just soooo beautiful. Do you have to water every day? I just love the look you have there. Did you make your own walks of brick too? Just beautiful, all of it.
Brugie, Thanks. I have worked very hard to overcome poor drainage and not enough light. Fought it for years and finally it dawned on me-grow thing that like water.Still have trouble with some varieties of coleus that don't like as much water. The water comes on 2x day 15min each time. It will increase as we hit end of Aug. and first of Sep. Made the walks and have many more to make. Brugs were blooming at other end of this bed earlier in week. There are a lot of gingers in that bed and the smell is beyond belief.
You must spend countless hours working in your flowers. They all look just great. Can't wait to see some of your brug pictures.
Snivel......
I love your gardens.......
soooo jealous!
Barb, it's beautiful!
WOW!! VERY IMPRESSIVE!! You live in a tropical paradise!!!
Only in my dreams! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the encore! Gosh, I sure won't get tired of looking, just wish I could smell it too!
Are all your gingers in a shady site?
violabird,
The gingers get varring degrees of sun. Those on left of walk toward the gate only get late afternoon sun. There is a pecan tree overhead. With our heat, they seem to do better with a little afternoon shade.

Too beautiful Barb! Do you have all beds and meandering brick paths with little lawn?
It looks fabulous Barb. You must be exhausted and very pleased with all your efforts.
They are just beautiful. Wow . . what a treat it would be to stroll along them!!
fabulous!!!
Kell, I have several walks and am working on getting rid of grass and it will be all walkways and beds. Below is another walkway. We bought the lot/house behind us and tore the house down. Now I have a 60x200' lot to plant and a place for greenhouse. This path leads to the new lot. Have already built three tropical beds in the lot. Need dirt, dirt, and more dirt. The lot has very poor drainage and soil.
Need dirt???I'll clean my nail and send it on!Thanks for more pics!can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve and under your nails!I have the second pic as WP right now, what are the tall ones,BOPs?
I love ALL of your lovely garden pictures!!! With the "extra" space in back of your property, you will turn it into a tropical paradise!!! Do you give personally guided tours??? Or do you have future plans for constructing tree-house lodging for plant lovers that will be flocking to see the botanical gardens that you have created???!!!
I have the second picture up on wallpaper, and I can just imagine walking down the sidewalk and glacing over that gate!Do you have a lot of walkbys?
*sigh* How wonderful. Can I come to live with you this winter. I promise to help out in the garden in February. These photos have been delightful. Humbling, but delightful.
Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh shoot, that is so pretty. I want my yard to look like that. Want a working vacation in PC?
I remember now Barb! I thought when I first heard your DH would let you buy a extra house, total it and then plant more plants...WOW......bottle and sell that man! LOL
clone him or something?--you know --to say im uneducated in gardening is an understatement, but your use of texture and contrast is hard to miss,--please tell me the bean plant can be grown from seed?-- do you watergarden ---I can almost imagine turning a corner and seeing a pond in the middle of your jungle.
Thanks everyone for the kind words of encouragement. No one get to see all the hard work but you folks.
Playsndirt, I want to put in a pond. Time and money are the only thing holding me back. LOL!! Yes the coral bean plant can be grown from seed but it takes a long time for it to get to a nice size. I rescued my plant from the bulldozers 10 years ago on a lot that was being clear cut. Will gladly send seeds if you want to try.
Bward I sure would--and will gladly send waterlily when you start on a pond:)---
