I just received this gorgeous flowering maple! It
was in the mail for 2 days. When I unpacked it it's
leaves were green. I potted it up and left it in
the shed on the floor where it would be cooler. Two
days have gone by and I noticed that the lower leaves
had yellowed. Can someone tell me what to do? It
was shipped bareroot so I was giving it a chance to
recover. Thanks for your help!!
Abutilon x Suntense (Blue flowering maple)
I would be no help,I killed the 3 seedlings I had.....
Not what I wanted to hear :(! It makes me nervous to
hear that from someone with alot more experience than
what I have.
I have had them for over 3 yrs. I think your plant just had a little shock, being shipped bareroot, give it time, it should recover. I HOPE!
So do I!! Thanks Hibiscus! If all goes well does this
plant have any special growing requirements? I can
find info on other Abutilons but not this one! When
I bring it inside what lighting would it like?
I plant some outside in the ground. They get sun from morning until about 1:00, have blooms all over, when I dig them up and pot them in the fall, they keep right on blooming. I finally trim them sometime in Jan/Feb, to about 5". Keep them growing. Have put some in basement, very little light, so they more or less go semi-dormant, water maybe every 3 wks. Bring them up in March and they start growing. Sorry I got so windy!
Get windy as you like-I'm listening to every word!!!!!!!
I've received so many plants that I've never seen before
and am desperate to make sure they keep growing as nicely
as when I received them!!
Thanks again :->!
I didn't even know there was a blue abutilon. Must go web searching!
Lilypon,
Suntense is a little more 'touchy' than other abutilons.
A very pretty one though (o:
Yours does not sound it was 'shocked' enough to not pull through.
Thanks for the good news! I felt sick this a.m. when I
went to take a peak and saw how much the leaves had
changed in two days!!!
try Plants of Perfection........ Elaine
Hi Elaine
I email her so much already-she shipped it in good
shape-I just wondered what others might have to say!
I have found Suntense, is not an immediate bloomer....talked to Cristina about that....so, I've been laying off the N all together and feeding her some Bloom Booster(0-12-12)........keep your fingers crossed!!!! Elaine
Pam, I'll be taking cuttings of mine in the next couple of weeks if it doesn't pull through, so not to worry. But yours will probably pull through.
Thanks...I don't feel quite as sick now. Will go
looking for the Bloom Booster next time we go to
Regina. The top leaves are still green today but
the bottom ones are a gonner!
