I have a Dr. Seuss brug that I planted last year and it bloomed beautifully, but this year no blooms. The plant is about 7 ft. tall and very green and vigerous, but no blooms yet. Do you think that I over fertilized? I use 8-8-8 in the border garden that it is in, but I only fertilized twice since growing season started. Any Suggestions. I am in zone 8B, southern Louisiana.
Thanks.
no blooms on brugs
Not over fertilized, probably not enough, they are heavy feeders, usually 20-20-20, 15-30-15, or 18-18-21 with minors are all good. Mine has huge blooms now.
And with the amount rain we have been getting these last 2 months you should fertilize 2 x's a week. I am less than 2 hours east of you and mine has been loaded down with blooms. In fact all my brugs are blooming like crazy. I was afraid they would be to wet and rot but they are fine.
Is it getting enough sun?
