What about this canna?

Horn, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

I've grown this canna from seed this year. Did'nt expect blooms this year allready. The flowers are smaller then I'm used to. Do they have bigger flowers next year when they are more mature? Last winter we had frosts down to -20C. Is this Canna hardy enough? She's pretty and I don't want to loose her. I got seeds from a big seedswap. This one is called Canna Indica. Is it?
I hope I've posted this on the right forum.
Thanks,
Saya

I think I'd dig her up after the first frost. I don't believe it would make it down to that temp unless it was on the south side of the house and mulched very heavily. Even then, it might not live.
Here are some images of your canna and some others....

i have my canna on the west side of my house. and i have them in a pot also. all i did was cut them down after the frost killed them back. no mulch or anything and they came back in no time at all blooming up a storm.

Your canna looks to be 'c. patens'.

saya, I didn't dig my cannas last year and they all came back and multiplied! Just in the ground in the middle of my yard, and not very deep. Zone 6b.

Thanks Root. I've germaninated the seeds on water/pyroxide solutian. Yes I'm sure it's Canna patens that is now called Canna limbata I've discovered. The seeds of the canna that I've shown come from a big seedswap. They were labeled as Canna indica. I've traded with someone in Brazil and I've got Canna limbata. This one is not blooming yet. Maybe because they get get a little less sun. I've discovered (thanks to Abutilon) that C. patens/limbata is recommanded for zone 8b to 10. I have a very sheltered garden between hedges facing south. So I've decided to bring a few in and leave the rest outside with a cover.
Thanks to you all.
Saya (ps of course I'll save the seeds for you to share this beautifull canna!)

I nick my canna seeds and soak overnight in warm water..they sprout in a week or less.Without soaking they took up to two months..

Sorry, but this variety doesn't get much larger blooms.
