Aaaaah, one of my favourites!
I have 4 violas in pots outside my front door, and this is one of them
Did you smell it Weez? (I only grow the fragrant ones)
I have to say, I have seen it available in pots, but being a seed starter, I never bought it. This summer I went to a friend's house and she encouraged me to give it a whiff. What a wonderfully fragrant beauty. I'll definitely invest in some next year.
I think Etain comes number one for me - and it's harder to kill than some lol
I also have Green Goddess, which is reminiscent of Irish Molly, but has buckets more scent
Zoe is really cute with rounded petals, but I never seem to keep her long (which is a shame as one of my granddaughters is Zoe)
Thanks for the suggestions, Phil. I'm going to look for those you mentioned when I go the Anchorage next spring. I just love scented plants, as well. My dianthus superbus are in full bloom now, and the smell is wonderful.
Oh, I love those - grew them last year and already have them on my list for next :)
Don't they winter over for you?
Probably might for some people lol
Philo, I had been wanting Etain for years but couldn't bring myself to pay the asking price - anywhere from $8 to $13!! Found it at Green Mountain Transplants for less than $2 each. I bought 3 and still had money left over for lunch! I hope they make it through the winter, they are so beautiful.
What a great find NoH20! I reckon you have as much chance with them as with any viola. They seem to have the strongest constitution of any I've grown - so good luck :)
