Stunning! What is the name of the deep blue petunia?

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

The petunias are Celebrity Blue, though in real life, they look more purple than blue. I purchased the seed from Stokes Online: http://www.stokeseeds.com/cgi-bin/StokesSeeds.storefront They are a rich, lovely color. I put together the baskets for the Downtown Businessmen's Assoc., and I was please with the results.

They are so bright and cheerful. The combinations of color and texture are outstanding. I used to live in the Seattle area - are your summers as overcast as Seattle? Those lively colors would really stand out. Did you use those gel crystals to help keep them moist? I have been using them in my pots and bags the last few years and they really have helped.

Thanks, NoH2O. Our summers can be wet and overcast, but this year it's been relatively dry. I added some gravel to the bottom of the hanging pots, but left the trays on them. This could be a problem if we have some of our rainier summers, but so far, so good.

In the past, I've used a Sunshine potting mix called 'Water Saver', and it has the crystals in it. In some of our rainier times, the crystals look like clear Jello squares!

I heard that!!

When we have a wet summer, petunias are really not very successful here. They melt and glue themselves to other plants... so sad!

Weeze, I am having the same problems here! I started 'Chiffon Morn' from seed, as well as 'Phlox of Sheep', and a sky blue lobelia to plant in my pots with my sky blue plumbago. It sounded like a good idea at the time, and the color combo is gorgeous but it has been so wet here that it looks like cotton candy left out in the rain.

NoH20, I started Chiffon Morns this springs, as well! The seed germination was excellent and I had about 6 flats of them! The little daisy mums hold up well in wet conditions, and they are lovely in a border or pot.
