yellow leaves

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I know this was adressed a while back, but couldnt find the thread.
of the brugs that I brought to turkey, 2 survived and are doing well, except one of them - the leaves have turned yellow...with green veins. at the time the thread was on, i didnt pay too much attention. both pots are in the same exact conditions, same water, soil, feeding schedule. finally today i gave it a weak epsom salt solution with miracle grow. please help me.....i dont want to loose one of my babies....

thanks everyone in advance.

hope you are all doing well,
calla, have you moved successfully and settling in well?
Kell, are you back in California and how did your brugs survive?
Tig, i missed your post about your new grandchild, i was following so closely - then was away from internet for 2 weeks. Hope all went well.
Ludger, how are your brugs doing?
Monika - any new ones from you this year?

I miss all of you, and think of you often

Pebble,
Looking in Monika's book, it sounds like an iron deficiency.
She says yellow leaves with green veins indicate that.

hey girl!!! I miss you so much!! all went well, beautiful girl.
I hope you are doing great, have you started the new job? are you all unpacked? fill us in when you check back.

Is the chlorosis on the older leaves or the new ones? Nitrogen and magnesium deficiency cause chlorosis on older leaves. Zinc, iron, manganese and sulfur deficiency cause chlorosis on new leaves. Do you know what the pH of your soil is?
edited to add a word I left out. I will learn to proofread my posts one of these days.

Cala looks like both older and newer = i have no idea of the ph = all i know is that it was soil that i bought and was pretty dissapointed at their sorry excuse of soil = full of other plants roots and have had many weeds sprout

cala in reading your post again = i must have jumped the gun with the epsom salt

Tig = glad to hear all is well with your new grandchild

I start my new job with the underwater archaelogical institute on monday for 3 days then take a couple of weeks off and return for good the last week of august i think
it is going to be a marvelous job = i will tell you all about it when i get going

Pebble, I'm sorry my fault, I meant to add deficiency to the list of minerals. I'll go edit it and fix that. I get in a hurry typing and forget things. If it's old and new leaves, I'd say nitrogen deficiency. It starts on the old leaves but if the nitrogen is completely depleted, the new leaves will be chlorotic too.

HI Pebble! I am back in California, but will be leaving again in 2 weeks for another 2 weeks visit to my Mom. Her little garden I planted out her back door in pots is doing great. CC sent her a brug and though the bud fell off, the plant is growing like crazy she said and she is mesmerized by it! LOL.

Quite the job... you work a few days and get a vacation? LOL

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Bummer....

I was soooo hoping she'd have a bloom!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

She will CC....... I bet when I get back it will have new buds. I will need to repot it it sounds like. a big fat healthy plant that is zooming up!

Kell, It's great that you can go back and spend some more tıme wıth your mum, help her thru the hard days.
I have your seeds Kell and keep lookıng at them wonderıng when ı should start them.....(thanks by the way)
Cala, thanks for the claırıfıcatıon, so what should ı do for nıtro defıcıency? - have you settled ın your new home and dıd all your brugs that you took survıve the trıp?

I am no Cala but I would fertilize with high nitrogen fertilizer Pebble. I would start by foliar feeding it as well as ground feeding. You could also try better soil though it sounds like gardening is not a priority there. Do they not have nurseries? What kind of flowers are a big hit there?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

If it's nitrogen def(or iron def for that matter) a foliar spray will correct it the fastest.
Not settled yet, still in limbo, lol.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

they have nurseries Kell, but nothing at all what we are used to. tons of bouganvillia....and other things too, but nothing that i am familiar with.
soil is real icky here....and yes, gardening is not a priority and finding fertz and what not are going to be a challenge.
the leaves have actually started turning green again, i guess the epsom salt helped anyway - i cant get any nitrogen foliar spray ... egads, i had forgotten what a 3rd worl country this is...they have delusions of becoming a 2nd world country - but i dont think so......
Cala, you'll get settled in no time at all, new adventure for you too....How's your daughter handling it? she is about the same age as my daughter, hope she is doing ok with it.
cheers to you all :)

Maybe you can find someone with a nice aqarium and beg them for their old water. :) Better yet, put in a pond and make your own fish poop soup. LOL Glad you are settled in!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

lol - good idea

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Pebble, for the most part she likes the idea. Especially when I remind her that she can swim year round!

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Pebble,
What part of Turkey are you in? My husband was there a long time ago. I would love to hear how things are there, he still thinks it's just like it was 30+ years ago. I keep telling him prices are probably higher there too.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Gıngerlıly -

I'm SOOOOO glad I found this before posting the exact same question! I wonder if the buds take a toll on the plant and cause the defiencies? I mention that since just over the past week, I've been having the same problem on some of my brugs. Bottom leaves only. I'd like to put them in a bigger pot, but I'm afraid to do that while they have buds on them. Do you think I could move carefully to bigger container and not lose the buds? I am going to give a good dose of nitrogen. But, what does the epsom salt provide?
