It is such a stunner, I would think it would be on all the time! It is so special. Why is it not a favorite? Just because it is an oldie?
Why don't I see this brug on here often if ever?
come on Kell help me out--what is it? learn me somthin?
It's beautiful, but I must not own one unless it's one of the seedlings that hasn't bloomed yet.
Is that Jean Pasko?
Tropical Sunset? I think there were more pictures of both Tropical Sunset and Jean Pasko last year or maybe the year before.
If I had one,I'd sure be showing it!!
Tropical Sunset. It is huge. Reminds me a huge flying saucer. It opens so flat. I thought the other day
http://davesgarden.com/t/391663/
was all that there was and I was thrilled with the shape but last night it just opened so wide. The colors are so dark. I am so happy to have a new subject of my late night photography. I was out there for 2 sessions after midnight last night. Got my second wind when I saw it. Practically every pic was a stunner.
Can you imagine it in dark pink and an even darker pink rim???
So how does Jean Pasko compare?
Mine looks like it, but is not a real large bloom, just normal size. I have Tr. Sunset also, have not seen it bloom.
Tropical Sunset is named well. Another big bloom. Very pretty.
Kell you take the most gorgeous photos! Beautiful!!!!
Kell, it has long been one of my favorite yellow/orange brugs. The more sun the stronger the orange band around skirt get. I have some growing in full sun and the get gorgeous. The one in partial shade are nice but have only slightly darker skirts. Beautiful photos. Jean Pasco never gets that dark of a skirt and it blends more into the trumpet. Not such a contrast.
Thanks for the info Barb. I just love it. I just went out and it has closed some what again. Does it prefer the night to open up flat?
Thanks Deb, I spend hours taking pictures. I really have fun doing it. I stole Barb's black background idea but I use the night not a backdrop. It hides all the mess around it so you all never see the truth!

Ain't it the truth! Take a pic and there in the back is a newspaper, or something you didn't see and certainly didn't want in a pic.
Or you get the perfect shot and then you see a dead leaf! And have to start all over again!
Kell that is so pretty.I have a cutting of that one that Chele brought me.
Mine is finally budding. I had lots of bloom last year, but never hat the dark rim on mine. Nice big blooms and they didn't like the heat very well. Those pictures are really good.
Kell, here it prefers night=less heat I think. The color is best in the fall when night temps are cooler. Our nights right now are low 70's. They droop in our as the day heats up.
I don't know how I miss things like this. I guess sometimes I go thru very fast and read and do not post and when I come back to the forum and see pictures that are familiar, I think that I have posted. This old mind is just too cluttered . . LOL Anyway, Kell this is an older veriety but it is a real beauty and I love your pictures of it.
Very pretty Kell. Now I regret giving mine away before seeing it bloom. I may have to get a cutting back in the fall. LOLOL!!!!!!!
Thanks Y'all! I was so shocked when it bloomed. I was not expecting it to be so special.
Is that a bit of a "southern twang" I hear in your voice??
I am easily influenced even from lomg distance! LOL
Does anyone have a cutting of this they'd be willing to share for trade or postage?
Donna, I think you said you wanted it first. LOL I think I have an extra rooted but mine have not Y'd or bloomed yet. Let me know if you still want it.
Edited for blonde cell disorder! It is Tequilla Sunrise I have. Gee! Guess I will be on the list for "I want one". LOL
