Light and airy

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

I've grown Tulbaghia violacea variegata for the first time this year and love the light airy feel to it. The flowers are a very delicate shade...

...and the variegated leaves set them off perfectly

Very pretty...are they sun or shade loving?

I drive by several hundred of these beauyties on my way to work each day. They are in the parkway strip - Full sun and quite a bit of wind. My daughter lives in Fresno, CA (23 days above 100 and counting) and they do well there. Check out the listing at http://plantsdatabase.com/go/57578/

Here they call them "naked ladies" I was wondering what the actual name of them was.... thank you!

Ooh, just shows how common names get around. To me 'naked ladies' are the colchicums that flower before their leaves show up

When I put this in the PDB, Terry has pointed out that the correct name for it is Tulbaghia violacea 'Silver Lace', which is not only much prettier, it suits the plant so much better.
I was lazy and went by the label that was in the pot when I bought it. Looking in my Royal Horticultural Society Plant Finder I see that 'Silver Lace' is indeed right :)

I had also heard this called the Resurrection Lily.
Any one else?

yet another reason to stick with latin names. Resurrection Lily = Lycoris

Princeton, IL(Zone 5a)

I just looked up the link and am disaappointed to learn that they won't grow in my zone. Boo-hoo. Oh well, you guys will just have to do all the work and post the pictures for the rest of us to view! ;~D

If you have a really sunny spot you could try it there in a pot in the summer and then take it indoors in the winter??

Princeton, IL(Zone 5a)

Unfortunately, I can grow plants outside, but I kill plants inside! :{
