Sanguinea

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

One of the last brugs I purchased locally was an
orange Sanguinea. It should never have been brought
to the prairies but here it is. What can I do to
make it as healthy and happy as possible and maybe
get a bloom? My next question is how do you root
the cuttings without them turning to slime? If I
can do it I will try to trade pieces of it back to
the coast!!!
This poor sad looking brug needs all the help it can
get - Thanks! It looked not too bad until this heat wave
struck-now I'm watching it's new leaves turn yellow. I've
had it for 3 years now-never seen it bloom. It's mother
was blooming at the greenhouse!

I have two different ones here in Zone 5 in Ontario. One is 3 years old and has yet to bloom, the other blooms in the early spring and is full of new growth at that time. Then when the summer comes, they limp along under full shade of a Maple tree and drop a lot of their leaves and look scraggly but revive in the fall and put on new growth.
Keep yours watered and in shade durring the summer and it may reward you in the spring.

Lilypon, the only way I can see to make it healthy and happy is to send it to Miss Lizzy ASAP.

I wish your pic enlarged Ruth Ann so I could get a good look at your blooms there. Looks like a great sang.

Lilypon, what's your average summer temperature?

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

They just said on the radio our daytime average is 32C;
the past few weeks we were around 38C, temp today was
28C.
I'm tempted to send it to Liz, Kell, but Canada Post
wants a bit too much!

Thanks Ruth Ann I will move it into deeper shade! Hopefully
August will be cooler but that's not the norm. I may
try putting it out by itself earlier in the spring-maybe
it will like it then better and I can pull it in when
there is a threat of frost!

Do you root it the same as other brugs or is it treated
differently?
