Knoxville, TN(Zone 7a)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Love it!

Another one I am waiting on to grow up and bloom. Susie, what is the differences between this one and EP? Since they are both blooming for you now, I thought you could tell us.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

They are sitting right next to each other and I can barely tell them apart. The lower edge of the corolla might turn up a bit more than EP. They are almost identical plants.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

I believe I had heard that there is no scent to KP,
is that correct?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

No scent is correct. Ecuador Pink on the other hand is very fragrant.

Susie,
I also find Kyles Pink holds up a lot better in our heat then EP.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Glory, I think that's true here too. EP looks "wilted" during the heat of the day.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

this one recurved nicely with last blooms. kyles pink.

I'm seeing two different colors. Is it due to where they are growing? I love the color on the first one of Susie's especially. Arlene, yours really reminds me of EP. Very pretty, girls!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

mine is the exact same color as EP and I agree with all the comments, finding the same things here.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

I agreee Kyle's holds up to the humidity here. Blooms a little more often I think too.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

EP is growing on me. I must admit I find other brug shapes more enticing. KP blooms were so much smaller in size.

Ecuador pink is definitely a good one for breeding with, but for me Ecuador pink just doesn't seem to grow as fast as Kyles Pink nor does Ecuador pink root as fast. Kyles Pink was a first year bloomer from seed as well. Kyles Pink comes back from mild frosts faster and is also more heat tolerant in my experience. These are the things I try to select for. Fragrance would have to be an added plus though and maybe I'll work with this one again to try to increase some of its better qualities as well as to get a hybrid with more fragrance. I love repeat easy to take care of first year blooming hybrids and thats surely one of my weaknesses when I select which hybrids to keep and which to toss. Those that bloom to late in the season frequently get tossed.

Eric, you are right, for me Kyles Pink grows much faster and just doesn't seem to quite blooming. i personally don't care if some brugs don't have fragrance and honestly i prefer 4 o'clocks to brugs for scent. She's a lovely brug, one i'll probably always keep.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Eric are you able to hybridize brugs this year? I sure hope so. Last year, yours were the talk of the town!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Eric ~ are you blown away when you get to see your hybrids out there?
