North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

They're stunning!

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

Hello Roselaine.
Yes it requires high-maintenance .
These days I think I must do less high-maintenance gardening.

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

Thank you very much ,Liz.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Tomtom, do you change all your containers every spring, summer and fall? They all seem to be so season sensitive. So appropriate in every way.

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

Yes,Liz,I change my containers every season.I usually use@annuals in these containers. I'm so pleased to hear you love them. Shown below you'll find a pic of autumn version.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Beautiful.. Did you say that you grow your annuals from seed? If not your nursery man must love to see you walk in the door. LOL

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

Yes ,Liz, practically all annuals and perennials are grown from seeds or cuttings.
One of my pleasures in gardening is this.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

You must have a large greenhouse. Is it as beautiful as your creations?

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

Liz,
By no means! But most plants other than tropicals may survive winter in my climate.Every spring and autumn,I sow lots of seeds for containers and the bed.

Tomtom those are just so beautiful! WOW!! May I ask you how and what are you using to attatch the pots? LOL,
dancinglady

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

Thank you ,dancinglady, for your res.
In this hand -made trellis nails are driven half way to attach containers.
The nailing spots are arranged as to be symmetric.
PVC containers are used because of weight.
After all, they are hidden by flowers.I try as if to paint a picture with flowers.
This is the summer-fall version.

Totally awesome.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Incredible!

But to have 4 different successive plantings you must tear out the last planting before it is spent. Doesn't that break your heart? Do you put them in place after they are up and flowering or when in the infantile stage?

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I just realized that you said this is a hand-made trellis. I am very, very impressed.

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

broots, Liz, I'm so happy you love it.

kell, I think I can get you very well. I myself daren't kill the plants I 've grown from the seeds. Please notice that the four differnt photos are NOT the ones of four seasons in the same year. Every planting lasts until it is spent. Be relieved, kell.

In JAPAN it is extremely muggy in summer , and even pansies and violas cannot oversummer . So if you want to make this kind of display, you've got to make replacement.
I placed these containers from elsewhere after the plantings started to flower.
I continued to keep plantings on display like these for about ten years until the hand-made trellis began to decay.
It was pretty tough to maintain, but every season I had a pleasant time making plans for ,and putting plantings on ,display.

Tomtom ~ what do you have planned for your winter creations?

Brooklyn, NY(Zone 7b)

Awesome, Tomtom! All the seasons, in whatever year!

I garden on an 11th floor balcony, and can't/won't hang plants because of the winds up here. But your trellis hangings have definitely given me some ideas!!

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

LizAin my climate very few ,if any, plants bloom in winter.
Once or twice I used the voilas that I sowed in August, and yellow oxalises. Just on display, dwarf flowering kales might be used.

Hello,PVick.

Thank you so much for viewing my picture. Balcony gardening in high-raises might require special care we can hardly imagine. I'd be more than happy if my trellis hangings were of some help.

Edmonton, AB(Zone 3a)

Tomtom what camera are you using. Your colors are so intense. I am sure they are true to the plants but the photography is great.

OSAKA, Japan(Zone 9b)

jagonjune,

All the pictures on this thread were taken by SLR cameras ACANON EOS 5 and MINOLTA Alpha 707si. I used the reversal films.

These days I use digital cameras ,Nikon Coolpix 880 and Nikon Coolpix 4300. I take lots of pics everyday for my site
.This way I can make it more economical.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Sigh, simply beautiful!

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Tomtom, those are pretty stunning! Pretty and stunning! You must be spending a lot of time in maintaining these all season? Quite an effort!
